Test Drove 535i again: Love it! 1 minor annoyance

Why do you have to press that stop button TWICE to shut off everything. It doesn't simply anything. My audi's MMI stays on when I stop the engine and when I open the DRIVERS door, everything shuts off with ease. The BMW on the other hand, the nav/etc are still on after I open the door and should shut off without me having to press that stop button again.. Annoying.

Anyone agree or?

Yeah, that's just the way it is. My 335i was the same way. You have three options:

1. Hit the button twice while still inside.
2. Hold the button down for a few seconds. Everything will turn off eventually.
3. Hit the button once. Get out of the car and lock it. Once you lock it, everything will shut down. This is what I do.

I thought I read with comfort access on the F10 you don't actually have to shut anything off. Just get out and lock the car - at that point HAL takes over.

Turn the engine off with the start button. Get out and lock the car then everything shuts down automatically. Or get out and everything will shut down automatically after a short delay. Easy.

Thanks guys!! That makes me comfortable. I will be getting the comfort access with the premium 2 package. I will just shut the door and lock the car to shut the system off If I am in the rush and forget to press that button twice. No problem with that.

Enjoy your weekend!
