I wrote to Patrys about a similar question. I did not select sat-nav as an option because frankly I do not need it since I drive only in within the city. Therefore I got the 7" screen but the 10" looks so bloody good that I was wondering if the screens could be swapped. Patrys confirms that it does not work like that. If you change the screen you also have to replace the CIC unit and then have the whole thing re-coded. If you visit Patrys's website they offer the full screen/CIC replacement + recoding as an option but it doesn't come cheap.

Also, once you get the parts you will still have to go to the dealer to get the units replaced. Patrys can do the coding remotely but your dealer may not play ball because I guess something like this would void the vehicle warranty, and I am sure our local dealers are already difficult enough when having to cough up support on warranty issues, as it is.

Alternately you may try to find an independent workshop that can offer you this service. However, I can't imagine the dealer not discovering the replaced CIC if and when a warranty issue pops up. Is it worth the risk, that is the main question you need to ask yourself.

@ Darrko = You know if you know anyone of any consequence in Dewan, you can get any work done under warranty.

I guess the same should work for India as well.

Personally I think its not worth getting the bigger screen later on as its too big a hassle.

Yeah I'm sure you are right, that is true for most things in this region!

And yes, the associated cost of finding, purchasing and shipping the CIC+screen would be quite significant. All for just 3 extra inches of LCD real estate......not worth it. It looks much better but not THAT much better!

Got in touch with BMW India, they will do it for me. They use the same parts for the 530d which get the bigger screen, sat nav etc..

I got an estimate for €4500 + installation for the new upgraded screen, i guess the 7" screen has never looked better
Also, inquired about the M-sport kit, which is going to cost me €7500
The mods are pretty much ruled out for now.

I have though made an offer to someone who is selling his 530d. He has the November 2011 model.
Selling mine shouldn't be much of an issue because just few days ago the car prices were hiked by 5%, which works well for as the new car now comes to about a few lakh rupees extra. My car is only like 3 months old.

Not exactly a new car, but planning to get a slightly used one. New car prices just went up in my country.
If I don't get a good deal, I'll just stick with this one.

Is it just because of the M-sport package and larger screen or are you no longer happy with the 525d engine also?

I just got the 525d because i dint have a choice when i went in to get a new one. They only had an Alpine white 530d with oyster dark interior, which personally looked dull to me. I also have a VW Touareg which has a (245hp) 3.0 diesel engine and compared to that the less powered (204hp) 525 seems boring now.

If i get a 530d, i can have more power, better features but same ride quality, also the 530d has the variable suspension settings in addition, you can switch to sports or comfort as per the need.

But, got a call from the dealer today, they will soon start bookings for the all new 640d GranCoupe. I'm totally going to wait till they announce the pricing

Guys i have a query.
Just planning to upgrade front brakes, should i get new performance pads or go for full big brake kit. Will need it just for street use but i want good bite and hard braking performance.

Was looking at Alcon super kit and also PB-big brake kit. The reviews i went through yet suggest that for street use i should just upgrade pads instead of getting the whole kit. What pads should i be looking for? Totally confused.
