For those who dont have HUD. A Cheaper solution? BMW's OEM Retrofit kit...
Was cruising EBAY and found this beauty. It is currently only available outside the US right now. When it makes it to US shores with mph and other readings that us 'muricans are used to, I may pick one up!
Here's the EBAY auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-OEM-E81-...eb910f&vxp=mtr Here's a guy that installed it on his car with a review: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1063158 For under 800 bucks it looks a lot better than getting a garmin or using a tablet as a HUD... I wonder when this will be officially be available in the US? |

I would like to see pics of it installed; the pic in the post was from too far. I want to see close-ups from outside and the passenger side. It looks rather large...... |

To me it just doesn't look good from the shots seen here and in another thread, sticks out too much and doesn't look like it belongs there (on otherwise classy and sleek looking dash).
Pretty cool that it can be done for those who like it though. |

The fact that connecting it to existing satnavs isn't an option, baffles me. Also $800 is way, way overpriced (see Navdy at $299).

The biggest plus for me is that this unit gets hardwired into the car itself and uses info from the car's oem computer. The power is also hardwired as well and since it's oem any cutting and installing won't mess with warranty. The unit is also supposed to contour to the dash where the oem hud would go. Semi permanent solution.
If I read correctly it says that it can link with your smart phone and provide navigation that way if one so wishes. |

it doesn't look like it focused 6 feet away either.
not having to refocus the eyes is one of the advantages of the HUD (especially for those of use with older eyes!) |

I have a 2014 Mazda 3S with that type of HUD. Trust me, it's stupid and tacky looking. Don't waste $800 on it. And the unit on the Mazda doesn't stick out like that one.
