Not to mention a 535 costs $140k there!

Don't notice this. And the plastic is better in the F10. Unless the cheesy upholders in the E39 that broke every 5 seconds count. Or the trim that fell off the door all the time.

you must of had a horrible e39 then...

If you want a really new generation of car, you can consider new GS. Reviews sing that it is slightly better than 535, and you can switch back to 535 in 2 years when BMW brings new model.

What I wanted to say was to do the best thing, skip the Lexus and go for the 535i or even better a 535d. Or why not a M550d, the most powerful diesel in this segment?

Yes the seat belts are flimsier. And thus much more comfortable.

Yes the steering is much easier. Because the servo-engine is much more powerful.

The speed is not felt BECAUSE of better insolation and higher quality materials.

There is much LESS plastic in the current model, what is plastic in the F10 that wasnt plastic in the E39? The E39 was not very luxurious inside at all. I had the M-sport 525 with leather seats. Everything in the F10 reeks of high quality materials compared to the E39 which was pretty rough even for its time.

You are spot on hinckley! Traffic jam here is a daily nuisance and I will prefer more comfort in the car + all the bells and whistles ( eg a better sound system, more features ) then a more powerful engine. Unfortunately, the way BMW Indonesia configure their models here is such that they always paired the most featured configuration with the most powerful engine and charge more. Not much customization options.

Nah... No offense to Lexus owners if there is any in this forum, but I find Lexus incredibly boring to look at and to drive. BMW my choice anytime.

And let's not forget the squeaky doors, the driver's seat trim that fell off, the lack of a heated sport steering wheel, or the really slow navigation systems.

The looks? To me, they're different, but both timeless and delightful. The E60 ... uh, not so much.

I had three E39s, including an M5. I loved each one when I got it, but the F10 has much nicer features and amenities, and the speed on mine (550i) is staggering.

Just checked out the F10 today. Is it just me or the doors feels more plasticky and flimsy compared to the old E60 model?

Mine feels like a vault door. It took me a few days to learn that I really needed to close it hard. Its funny when my clients sit in my car, they can never get the door to close...it always take a few tries

I love the drive of the new GS compared to my sold 2011 BMW 535i. It feels nimbler, sharper, lighter, and with amazing interior that makes my F10 plasticky.

Strange, it definitely feels lighter and more plasticky to me compared to the older E60, no vault door feel. I wonder if it has to do with it being locally assembled. I also really don't like the front bonet look, those stripes across the front surface looks like 3 long scratches across the face of the car. other than that, interior esp the black leather is very nice, with the 10.2" Lcd in the dashboard.

I am also considering the Jaguar XF and the New Audi A6. The former I like the exterior look ( think nicer than the new 5 ) though not the interior. The Audi can be had much cheaper in my country.

Do NOT choose the Jag, I have worked with them as Sales rep and they still have a lot do when it comes to quality...the Audi is nice but is not up to par with F10/F11 in materials and quality. The engines are ok IMHO

The new Lexus GS front end is also overdone, way too much bling!!!

Dear Lexus: PLEASE, STOP COPYING AUDI'S LED DRL. EVEN KIAS GOT THEM NOW.

And I would never, ever choose a Lexus, Infiniti or Acura over a Bimmer. They are completely without "soul" - and plastic, oh yes they are...

I come from owning an E39 to an E60 and now an F10..... I like the space of the E60 and the look of the F10..... Somehow, the new F10's interior feels (and is) more cramped than the E60 was......
