Key Fob size
Why is the Key Fob so much bigger for the F10 over the e60/s?
I was expecting with the passage of time smaller, cheaper, better fob. I have comfort access (proximity) on my e60, never insert it to "key slot" and seems to do everything that the f10 one does. I just cant figure out what extra things it is doing to justify the increased size and weight. Last edited by faarcanal; 07-06-2010 at 01:05 PM.. |

It's due to the new European Trouser Safety Standard which requires that key fobs have active air bags to prevent injury in a fall or other sudden impact, thus the larger size. If you see someone with an unsightly bulge or a case of the "puffy pants," smile at them and ask how they like their shiny new BMW.
