Correct me if I am wrong everyone, but we are all 100% certain that the july production 2013 F10s will in fact have the updated navigation and idrive (as demonstrated in http://www.wired.com/autopia/2012/05/bmw-idrive-4x/), BUT we believe that the 2013 F10 will not have the new MFID and the "U.S. consumers won’t get a crack at the new display until next year" language on http://www.wired.com/autopia/2012/05/bmw-idrive-4x/ means that we won't see it until 2014 F10's? And, the 6WA which comes with the 2013 Technology Package is NOT the new MFID?

I am hesitant to be so certain that the 6WA in the Tech Package for the 2013 F10 is not the new MFID, and I will tell you why - If you try to build a new 5 series on the BMW UK website, you can add as an option, for 115 British pounds, the "Black Panel Display," which is described as a:

"Full Black panel technology, as described on the left, but additionally with a high-resolution 9.2" Info Display below. This shows such information as current fuel consumption, range, on-board computer functions and trip and mileage counter in parallel with navigation prompts. The display features Black Panel technology, when the ignition is off, it appears as a flat, Matt Black surface. The only three-dimensional elements are the Chrome rings, open at the bottom, that encircle the display’s dials. As soon as the vehicle is opened, the Chrome rings turn into full circles, and the dials and displays appear. (Only in conjunction with Headup Display)."

And here is the kicker - guess what the BMW code is for the UK "Black Panel Display"? "6WA". Are we surrrreeee this is not the same 6WA in the U.S. Technology Package?

Thoughts?
The updated nav will be on post-July build US-spec cars, but the new MFID won't be (it's not on the 2013 order guide).
6WA is 6WA is 6WA, no matter which country. 6WA is a standalone option in Germany for 150 Euros, but it comes free with either Professional Nav or HUD.
6WB, which is the new MFID, is a 600 Euro option. If combined with a specific option package it costs 300 Euros.

Wrong!

2013 models start production in july, but the new navi is from september production.

The new MultiDisplay though, is produced from july.

Can you be more precise, please? Is it September inclusive? My car is going to be built in the first half of September to be delivered on September 15. I'd kick myself if I would miss the new iDrive because of a matter of days…

EDIT: And what is your source for that information?

Are sure it's not the other way around, because in German pricelist, the Multidisplay 6WB is available from 09/2012.

This is taken from motor-talk.de.

OK, let's see...

We received a newsletter of all the changes ( I works as a BMW SA) and it 100% says new Navi on F10/11/07 from september.
For the 3-series it's from july.

It should be. Having faith in that German forum I quoted, I should be in safe waters. I just checked and my MY2013's navigation system should be the new one since the price is different (490 euros cheaper) from what's currently in the BMW "Konfigurator". In addition, it seems that 6FL "USB-Audio-Schnittstelle" is now an integral part of the system and not a separate option, which undercuts the price tag a further 300 euros.

hi all,

You can download the German price list here. As stated 6WB is eur 600/ 300 in combination with HUD, avail from Sept 12 production. (pg 19).
Would be surprised if not avail in the UK, maybe check again with dealer in few weeks.
As rhinosaur stated, no more 6FL, now included with Nav.

Thanks for the info, cpd1!
My config has all of that so it must be September, inclusive. By the way, did you see anything regarding the newer iDrive/Navi version?

HOLD THE PHONE.

My understanding was, in the U.S., the new Navi/iDrive will definitely be included in the July 2013 F10 builds, and the only question is whether the new MFID will be (For the U.S.) in July, September, or perhaps the 2014 F10 builds. What am I missing?

So far theres only one person claiming that the new Nav isn't going to be in the July builds but numerous others claiming it is. I'd trust Jason and the others on this one. It would be pretty screwed up with (nor does it make any sense) someone ordering a 2013 F10 in July with the old nav while two months later another person ordering the same car will get the new nav. Both of these people paying the same amount for the same option but getting very different hardware. Also if the new M5 is getting the new nav then the rest of the F10's will also get it since they are on the same assembly line.

They could do that with the new 6WB cluster since its not currently being offered yet and it will be a new option being available for an additional cost.

For US market MFID will not be on 7/12 builds, & according to some it'll be introduced in 2013.
If 6WB is available ur dealer should have the info cos where I'm living, our distributor already have the pricing for 6WB & the option can be ordered since last month.

This is basically it. If it is available in the US, then dealers should be able to see 6WB in the option list since last month.
