rear tires done at 15k miles
Hey guys I have the michelin primacy on my 535 m sport with the 275 rears. My rear tires are pretty much all worn out while my fronts have atleast 7-8mm left. I only have 15k miles on my car and it's been about 1.5 years into my leaseil.
I know rear tires wear out faster with rwd cars but is needing new tires at 15k miles normal? Befkre anyone asks I don't drift or burnout or do anything that would cause eary wear.

Depends on the tires and how you drive.
On a staggered rwd car it is pretty normal. Our old E55 Wagon got max 20K out of rear tires. Replace them something with a better thread wear if that's what you are looking for.

15K miles seems right, especially if you are pushing a bit. I found when I still had run flats, they wore pretty quickly for me even though I'm on square setup and have rotated them.
My current tires are not run flat, also wear fast, but I knew that when I decided to get them, they are behaving "as advertised". |

If you're not abusing them, have you considered checking rear wheel alignment?

check for the tire wear! if it's even than alignment should not be an issue. maybe you have a heavy foot and don't realize it lol! also taking hard 360 off/on ramps could wear those rears out!

Tire make/model and treadwear is imperative in your post being of any context.
Generally speaking most tires fitted to these cars in sporty configuration are very low treadwear, 180-280 or so. The lower the number the softer, faster wearing, and stickier you can expect a tire to be. Getting 15k out of a set of rears in that range is 100% normal. If you step up to a 400-500 treadwear tire you'll see longer life between changes, but reduced grip and performance. |

Do you check your tire pressure on a regular basis? That's something most people fail to do, and it can lead to premature wear.
I would also highly recommend you dump the run-flats and buy some Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They'll be much cheaper, you'll have a smoother ride, better handling, and they should last in the 25,000 to 30,000 range. Worried about a flat tire? Get a AAA membership or buy one of the portable tire fixer kits to keep in your trunk. Or both. |
