DINAN to soon release 535i F10 performance upgrades.

I'm very interested in these.

On my last recent visit (I am a 200 mile away customer) to their Mt. View store, for intermediate oil changes, I was informed that in August or September the upgrades will be ready for retail sale.

An easy 40+ HP gain could be realistically in the cards.

All the necessary remapping and R & D is now finished, though of course their FIRST F10 efforts were for the M5.

Their operations from what I, an untutored novice, have seen - are to me, HIGHLY impressive.

~~~
They had offered to make my '13 535i a test mule for this upgrade with the understanding that I'd be without it for a few weeks while they did the upgrades, and then wrung it out a while, and I'd be charged wholesale.
To this I agreed, but they never got back to me, and evidently went elsewhere;
I guess they get few new 535ers in there, likely the dealer is used usually for the new car services.
Good to hear but a bit late. Would of grabbed a bigger market a few years ago.
Btw, if they take your car for a few weeks, you should be able to get free, not discounted, parts.
You have made a very good point there, but the R & D takes a LONG time, it is very thorough, and that is where the bulk of the cost, and expenditure of time and focus lies, I reckon..
They made a marketing choice, to FIRST work on the M5 F10 upgrades.
The reasons for that are pretty obvious to me.
The 535i Dinan upgrade was subordinate to that task.
I think the M5 market for this would have been larger, more demanding, insistent, and with WAAAAAY deeper pockets and WAAAAY more desirous of DINAN upgrades than 535i and 550i owners.
I agree that they should of worked on the M5 first, but I think they should have released a tune a few years ago, like Burger tuning.
BTW, that is a 5er in the showroom, not a 3er. If you didn't recognize the body lines, the 540i decal on the quarter panel is a dead giveaway.
That's true, I stand corrected.
Jim - thanks for sharing the pictures of your trip to Dinan! I see they recently announced an N63tu 550 tune, as well, which they didn't previously have... better late than never, I guess.
For $3k, though, Dinan claims only similar power increases to the $600 BMS JB4 for the N63tu. I'm not sure if there are other major differences that justify three times the price, aside from the fact that Dinan offers their warranty matching program.
Totally agree. They will make back their money and then some from their R&D on future sales of the product. It is usually built in to their sale price early on.
Meanwhile they are out there flogging your vehicle. Who knows what could happen.
Yeah, Dinan asks crazy money for products that have direct competition. Dinan claims their products will soon meet 50 state emissions standards in contrast to the other solutions on the market. Interestingly their N63tu tune won't work on 2015 models due to a new electronic vs. manual waste gate. I wonder how complex the fix will be to address this issue.
My understanding of the BMS JB4 is that you can simply turn it off - would seem useful for emissions testing if there was an anticipated impact?
I'm trying to see if I'm missing some difference between these two products that justifies the 3x price difference. The warranty match may be part of it, and perhaps the emissions compatibility in 50 states... ? But I still feel like there's a big value gap there.
Yes if you want to skirt the law you can always disconnect it.
Emissions testing /compliance costs money but as you stated, its the Warranty that people are paying for, plus the Dinan name and possibly more extensive R&D. It's worth the extra money for some but not others.
