F10 550 N63 AR Design downpipes (catted vs. catless)

So I am adding AR Design downpipes on my F10 550i and want some feedback. I am trying to decide between catless vs. race cats. Anyone installed either one? I know the catless will be louder, but I wanna know how much louder. And is there a lot of torque loss with catless? I have a Magnaflow custom exhaust (mufflers) now with an x pipe, but my secondary cats are still on the car. My car has a nice deep throaty sound now. But I wanna make it louder and more aggressive sounding. And does anyone know if I install the AR DP's with race cats, will that avoid me having a CEL vs. the catless ones that will definitely throw a CEL? Thanks in advance for the feedback...

Personally i would go with cats, just because of the smell problem associated with catless.
On my E90 M3, i had catless setup, and dam did it smell.
I couldn't drive with the windows open. the smell got really annoying quick.

I assume our car will do the same.

Thanks for the feedback... Did your e90 M3 have secondary cats? Cause My F10 does and perhaps that would help with the smell issue... I'm really struggling with the decision cause I want all the performance and increased sound, but it would be nice to not have a CEL on all the time. Who knows when they will have a tune for our N63 motor...

Hey Sri- I was looking at getting the A/R catted dp's. Im looking for a slightly more aggressive tone without being overly loud. Call me subtle.... Will post up when i do.

there are no secondary cats on the 550, just the one's on the stock DP's,, after that u have 2 resenators,, but if u added secondary cats, that's a different situation

I was told that those are secondary cats, not resonators. The OEM resonator is further towards the back of the car.

Thanks @BMV8 - when are you planning to get your AR DP's with race cats? Would be super interested to see if you get a CEL with the race cats...

My E90 M3 was fully catless with 4 resonator Borla mid-pipe.

on the 550, there is only a primary cats, no secondary.
They are resonators,
BMW calls them primary silencer

Mid pipe is called a center muffler

I do have some photos... Gotta get them off my phone and will upload them when I can. My car does have some drone but it's the price you have to pay in order to get a nice deep throaty sound it seems.

I found a great muffler place here (Royal Muffler) that does full 3" SS mandrel bend custom exhausts. The shop that I went to originally did not use SS and no mandrel bends. It's starting to bug me even though I am the only one who knows that it's there. I want it perfect.

Yes they have it! Also, trying to find out if AR downpipes have clamp so they can be attach to a body.

Just got of the phone with AR and their downpipe has two clamps that attaches downpipe to a body (like OEM downpipe)Considering their quality and reputation sounds like AR downpipe is the way to go. They are little pricey but I just don’t like the idea of downpipes just simply hanging down from the turbo housing.
