Checking Build Dates
Hello out there, but a long time lurker but recently getting back to a BMW again. Super excited.
I am in the process of finding a used 535i, and coming across a few of them that are I believe build dates for 2011 models in 2010. I know there were a few issues in the early adobters and was wondering how would I go about finding the build date. Is the best way to get the VIN number and calling the dealer? Should I be worried about any of the 2011 versions, and be safe stick to a 2012. I know not much as changed, but want to ensure it. This will be a car I would be keeping for a while so want to make sure I get one with all the kinks worked out (if any). Thanks

Have a look at bmwvin.com. Free sign-up, and you can enter the last 7 digits of the car's VIN and get, in addition to the production date, all the manufacturing details including options, etc.

I've heard that anything after 3/2011 is good. Mine is 3/2011 and it's been fabulous. The vin is all you need...there are several web sites which can give to you the car's details based upon the VIN.
