I know of the earlier issues for the 550's from threads posted here but do you guys know if the newer 550's have same problems...I don't stay updated on those since I don't have a 550. Think it would be nice to have a bit more power than my 535

Im pretty sure they have ironed out most of the problems with the 50i engine. Cant remember what they changed, but I read the new 750i (2016) got some engine specific upgrades for better reliability. So I guess you need a 2016 550i to be affected by those upgrades, but to be honest I think any LCI 550i will be more reliable than a non LCI

I'd get her an X Drive, sell yours and then get an M or any other proper performance car that you fancy. You have the truck so can be patient with your purchase...

BMW addressed the issues with the N63 when they came out with the N63TU. I haven't really heard of any problems yet with the n63TU, granted it hasn't been out for very long so any problems might not have cropped up yet.

Before I got my 550, I was looking at 535's but once I drove the 550, I knew that was the car I wanted. The 550's torque is like a freight train and extremely addictive. The power and torque is so effortless that when I look down at the speedometer I'm shocked when I'm doing over 100 mph with no effort at all.

Do yourself a favor and test drive a LCI 550, I'm sure you'll be impressed, the engine makes the car.

Seems like she already has her mind set on a f10. Why try and change it from a perfectly great choice.

You can always trade yours for a 6GC or try the something else.

BTW, A6 is great if a little understated, which is part of its charm. It's more unique also and the Quattro awd is awesome. I still ended up with a F10 cause interior refinement is a step above.

My wife's '08 535xi wagon looks great in the garage next to my 550i. Both are 6-speeds and we can't imagine anything else for regular use.

Now, there's some fun stuff and utility stuff, but the BMWs do most everything for us.

do it!!!

interestingly the same thing just happened to me that I have to buy her a 14' a couple of weeks ago so that she does not have to share with my 15'. Even though they physically look the same except the color, both vehicles are equipped completely different (ex: one has Dynamic Handling Package one does not, one has HK sound one does not, one has side view camera one does not, etc. etc.), thus, to me, I have 2 different BMW because of their dynamic driving, comfort, and safety experiences.

she wants it fully loaded as mine was just the base 535i but that's cool because she did let me put $6k wheels on amongst other things!

Garage List
2012 550xi  [10.00]
We went through similar dilemma. My wife only wanted a sedan like 435, 640, c400, tesla, but we ended up buying the Macan. Drives like a sedan, no need to modify, great handling, enough space, garnet red+ black interior is just too good.
P.s. She wanted a sports sedan too

lol! i hear ya when your wife wants 33's! my wife's driven both of our lifted trucks! first one was the our 06' Tundra on 9" lift sitting on 35's...as you can see how the top car port is pretty low compared to the truck and we also have a 08' Nissan Titan with 8" lift on 35's. she loves driving down the highway sitting above everyone and loves hogging up the road lol! but she really enjoys driving my BMW and wants her own and i totally understand.

Ugh... stop giving me ideas! If I did I want an M5! But it probably won't happen since we're looking into Xdrive

Thanks! When you do look for the 2.5" lift look into the Bilstein 5100's as those now eliminate the 2.5" spacer people use. Its similar to a coilover but you can adjust from 1-3" and they only cost $100 each! Check to see if they make them for the Jeep's

Oh just do it already, you know you want to.

Trade in yours for M5 and tell your wife that life sometimes isn't fair, that she needs to be patient because "you don't always get what you want."

If the Jeep has low mileage than yes...go with the leveling kit. My struts were shot so I found out the Bilsteins are adjustable so those eliminate the need for a spacer. But I just did an eBay search and your leveling kits are dirt cheap from $100-150 I would verify you can clear 33's tho
