M5 Style Grills in Gloss Black
Took a chance on these for my 2013 F10 520d. I'd had Black grills fitted to my CSL many years ago and they lasted all of about a week before being removed again but somehow I think the White 5 Series suits them.
Top seller and the fitment is spot on. Before - Excuse the flies and dirt After Wee opportunity for a cheeky photobomb! These are the Grills I bought, Ebay link - No connection to the seller whatsoever Cheers,

I've purchased the same ones which should arrive today, with luck, so it's a relief to hear that they're a good fit. Did you have any problems removing the old ones, I'm assuming they just pull off, much like the e90 grills?

Those are Mudflaps yes, first car I've owned to have them and the jury is still out on them to be honest. I've never fitted them to my M3's previously but a 520d I didn't think it would matter too much. Funny over here in NI, they're all about Mudflaps and those daft wind deflectors your fit on your windows and if you don't have both, you're not cool. Although, the mudflaps serve a purpose they might only last a few months.

I have to confess to fitting the 'daft wind deflectors' to the e90 and, to be honest, I don't think they looked too bad. I fitted them because I like driving with the window open, but if it rained I'd get soaked from all the rain coming in the window, and the defectors did a great job keeping it out, but I won't be fitting them to the F10 under any circumstances. Apart from a few very minor mods like the grills I'm going to try very hard to keep this car fairly OE for once!

I understand the wind deflectors to serve a purpose on some folks cars, just I've been asked a few times when I'm going to fit them because they 'look cool'...
They are M5 wheels, 20"'s redone in Anthracite by the previous owner. I was told they were supplied by BMW with the car but I've yet to have them off and confirm if they are OEM's but I doubt it since the dish on the rear is massive, to do with the offset I'm guessing.

Are there any screws holding them in? I gave both grills a very good tug today & they didn't budge, I didn't want to break anything as the new grill hasn't arrived, but they're certainly a very tight fit.

You have to undo the clips from the backside of the bumper mate and push them out. If you look on the new grills, you can see where the tabs are and how they lock the grill into position.
I found a good youtube video which I'm trying to find again now... You have to remove the two rubber strips running along the top of the bumper holding on a couple of plastic covers. Using a T30 Torx, remove 6 torx bolts holding the bumper onto the front panel and gently pull the bumper forward. You can then get your hand in behind the grills and undo the locking tabs - The bottom ones are the most awkward of course. I found it easier to install them in 2 ways - First install the backing part of the grill without the surround as you can make sure all lock tabs are in place before fitting the surround part of it.

When you receive the new part, all will become clearer mate. I'm offshore ATM otherwise I could have take a couple of photos of the screws you need to remove to gain access, will keep looking around the Web.

The grills finally arrived yesterday, and I had an hour to spare in the afternoon so I decided to bite the bullet and install them, what a pig of a job.
First of all I tried the yank the grills out method it didn't matter how hard I pulled they wouldn't budge so I resorted to the disassembly method, but even then it was a pig of a job. I unscrewing the top of the bumper which was simple enough, and I managed with a great deal of effort to unclip the top of the first grill, but finished up A over T on the garage floor when the bottom clips eventually released as I was pulling as hard as I can. The second grill was even harder & I resorted to bending the bottom clips away from the grill so I could physically get access to undo them. It's certainly not a job I want to do again in a hurry, but the finished result is well worth the effort, and if the weather holds I'll get some pictures tomorrow! |

Holy smoke mate, I knew it was an awkward job but didn't think it was that bad. Yes, the clips at the bottom took mutant strong fingers to release but they were doable with enough patience.
What do you think of the fitment of the finished product though? I thought they were spot on to be honest and the quality isn't half bad for a aftermarket product. Look forward to the photos.

They look spot on & the eBay seller was excellent & very helpful, the only down side is the OE grills have a foam strip running round them which fills the gap between grill & bumper which the new grills don't have, but it's not a problem - I've sent for a roll of foam that should do the job.

I didn't even notice the lack of foam to be honest, glad they're a decent fit though, good man.
