Dark Chrome Finish Wheels from Factory?
The wheels on this eBay car caught my attention.
Is the finish from the factory or aftermarket? Anyone know its name? Is it ‘dark chrome’? If aftermarket, is it a form of ‘platting’ that will fail in time? Thanks! |

Stock m sport wheels on the 7. Assuming someone refinished them or they're after market reps. Since the car itself appears to be an m sport, I would think they were just refinished. I don't recall the style number.

Those are the factory style 303 wheels and the finish looks like black chrome. Probably a refinish. Any shop that does wheel refinishing can do this for you for about $500-$600 for the set.

Liquid Black....Black Chrome.... I think they both refer to the same finish.

Thanks for all the great info, Gentlemen! Looks fantastic!
I wonder which wheels are available in 'Liquid Black' from the factory. Otherwise, any thoughts on durability if done aftermarket? |

Found this:
http://www.shopbmwusa.com/SEARCH/LIQUID-BLACK Don't see 303's, so these must be aftermarket. :| |

Posted this in the other forum. Including it here for reference. This is the liquid black (black chrome) 351m in my local dealership showroom.

Any good wheel shop can finish your wheels like this. You can refinish any style wheel that you already have. The process is no different than when the dealership has it done. Dealership will probably charge an $800 premium for this finish, while they paid $350 wholesale to get the wheels refinished.

Does anyone know if BMW offers touchup paint for liquid black? I have some 464M in liquid black and have a small chip. When I asked the dealership they told me the whole wheel would have to be refinished...in fact they suggested all 4 to ensure a match. Well, I'm not going to refinish all 4 wheels for one chip.
