Testing it by stick a box just like what you have done?

If the lip scraped, what are all those stupid box tests for, Kid?

Yup, but better asked 3D the height of the SE lip. Jxnco only asked for the M sport lip.

I was at the gas station today when I realized one of the splitters on my 3D design M-sport front lip was shattered. I have absolutely no idea how it happened either. Could have been a pothole or maybe some debris on the freeway.

If you are low on coilovers like I am you will definitely have issues with scraping. The 3D M-sport front lip is lower and sticks out further than the paper box you are using.

I think not having the splitters would make it much less likely to scrape though.

Sorry to hear this Evan. I am surprised to know the splitter got shattered as it's made of carbon fiber. Are you getting a replacement?

Thanks for you insight. Since I am only on H&R springs and not that slammed, I hope it will be fine. I am only going for the lip and not the splitters.

From my test I used a 30mm high box and I got advice from 3DDesign that the lip is 15mm in height. So I guess pretty much I am safe. Lip will be arriving in a week on so. Let's see how it goes. Thanks again, Evan, for your advice.

RC3, maybe you should check with 3D Design on how much the lip protrudes out as well?

Too late to check as I already ordered. But should have plenty of buffer.

Let you guys know the real test later.

RC bro, I think the most concern for the protrusion will be going up a slope.
Avoid go to those carpark with big slope will be fine!

I already tried with the 30mm box at a very steep up slope and no scrap unless I drive very fast. So that's why I said the 15mm lip should be pretty safe. But after all is a mock up test, so I can't say 100% scrap free until I put the lip on.

RC, from the pic it looks like your test placement was quite protruding, so factoring in your margin of safety the extra protrusion should not exceed your margin, you should be safe with your current drop etc.

Like 78mao said, it's the sides that gets murdered even if you come in perpendicular to a driveway, I hope you dont. See the sides sticks down much further than the center. But it looks like you already bought it, so just be mindful and enjoy. There are also available clear bras that are a bit thicker, that might help.

Post pics whenyou get it.

For the 3DDesign front lip, the sides will stick out even more with the splitters and that is why I didn't go for it. As per 78mao's advice, I have tested by sticking 30mm boxes at the two corners of the front bumper at an angle. I got no scraps even at the steepest ramp. So logically scraping won't be a issue with the 15mm high lip. But as said, nothing could be confirmed after I try it with the real lip.

Probably won't put on any clear bra. Actually I don't really care if the lip's bottom part scrap, as long as the front portion don't. Will keep you all posted.
