Downpipe Question

Hey guys,
I recently bought an F10 535i and installed a JB4. I want to start running map to, but I’m afraid to do so without getting a downpipe. I like the way the car sounds now- It’s very quiet and reserved/sleeper and phenomenal on long drives. I do not want a downpipe that will alter the sound and make it loud and obnoxious. What is the best downpipe that will give me the greatest performance gain with the least amount of extra sound?

Honestly i don't know of any aftermarket DP that doesn't alter the exhaust tone. I think most of us upgrade the DP's for that reason

I drove a good while with a catless dp but I still had a stock exhaust back, it's not the dp it's the snowball. "X" pipe, resonators and mufflers or what ever you like for sound and DRONE. Do yourself a favor and research it. I personally went VRSF dp, Magnaflow X and Valvetronic mufflers.

You can't improve the airflow and keep the sound the same. But a 200 CEL downpipe does not make huge changes to the sound.

You will notice it for the first 20 seconds on cold start and on wide open throttle. Minimal difference on regular drivers with 2500 RPM.

I installed a catless downpipe on my 535 and could barely tell a difference in sound after it idled down from initial start. I don’t think you should be worried.

Maybe you should be worried about being deaf

Just kidding, but I'm honestly surprised you cant tell the difference with catless downpipes, especially when you go wide open throttle

The sound deadening in these cars is insane. Helps keep my wife happy though!
