For all of you driving an N63 car, including 550xi, X5s, etc., the problem is now a nationwide class action lawsuit. I received my class notification two weeks ago. I am contemplating joining, however, I just spoke with a BMW Tech at a local dealership and he said the top brass at BMW will likely do a nationwide recall and service update. However, who knows when that is going to happen. he told me it is most likely the valve seal guides. He explained how it happens. He said the cost of a replacement N63 engine has gone from $25k down to $15k. The class action is over 50,000 owners. See https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2...-lawsuit.shtml.

I think this is a BMW thing, the service manager told me that M3 eats oil so mine is nothing.

When ever I get promted with a low oil warning, I just go back to BMW and they will fill up for me free of charge even after warranty period as they are aware that their engine consumes oil.

I have only done 300 or so km on my F10, let's see how much the new car consumes.
Is your car engine oil consumption 1 liter per 300 kilometer?

I just switched to liqui moly top tec oil and added the Mos2 oil treatment. My oil burning issue seems to have stopped. About 2k in and have added nothing. Prior to the switch I was adding a liter every 1000 miles.

Just prior to my first and only oil change so far, the car said it was 100% full. However, I drained only about 4 quarts.

I don’t think that measurement system is accurate.
