BMW has created a major profit center in the options. The strategy is to sell the base car with little or no profit and then make the money on the options which are overpriced.

I was pissed that my former car (2007 328i) was $43k and didn't come with power seats or xenons. I understand the economics of it. But I think it's horse shit. But I guess it didn't stop me from getting that versus a much more loaded TSX for about $14k less...

I thought leather was standard on all the new 5 series. How come the build your own package charges you $1500 for the leather seats?

Leatherette is standard, leather is optional.

That's why the base car is cheaper in America than in Europe (and Asia)....

Unhappy Can't do it without the M-Sport

The front of the car just looks ... bad. Color doesn't seem to make enough of a difference. I'm sorry. I want to love it.
