DIY: Front License Plate No Drilling Please
I was very adamant about the dealership not drilling holes into the front bumper. I have Venturesheild Clear bra on bumper. I used 3M double sided mounting tape. Although I really hate the front plate. I don't want $25 parking tickets or to get sweated my the man. The best thing is that it's totally reversible and the plate sits flush on the bumper without the bracket.

A few months ago, i was parked nose-to-nose with another M3. (It was a nice contrast; my Jerez Black sedan and his Alpine White coupe.) The guy had fabricated a piece that looked like a leaf spring that held his front plate. The center of the spring was welded to a sawed-off towing lug that was mounted through the bumper to the factory tow point. VERY cool looking. Somebody needs to offer that commercially!

You can't tape the mounting bracket to the front of the F10. The bracket is meant to be screwed on so there aren't points where the bracket can sit flush against the bumper without screws. You can try the plate by itself, and see how you like it. I found it to be too bare which is why I added the license plate frame. Make sure the frame is aluminum or plastic. Steel frame is too heavy for the tape.

The bracket is black plastic and is rather large. Fabricating one bracket to place another one on is going to make the OEM bracket stick out even farther than it already does and weight may become an issue. Once it starts to get heavy the double sided tape option doesn't work. You could use a stronger adhesive, but I'm not sure what it would do to the paint. If it's going to be permanent, you may as well just screw it on.

I don't run front plates in NJ and they are required. Never been pulled over for not having one. I did have a PO say where is your front plate after being pulled over and I told him in my garage. He did not seem to mind, but I do have family cards. I remember reading on here once a guy saying I like keeping my car clean. Some people visit car washes and it cost 20-25. I clean my car myself and play the tickets to keep my car looking clean. Thought that was funny. Sometimes it's good to have something wrong with your car (no plate) for a PO to write a ticket for rather then a moving violation. Like they used to do with seatbelt tickets.
Not saying anyone should break the law!

Nope, the tape is impervious to weather conditions. You need brute strength to remove it.
