So I have an LCI F10 and was wondering if it was possible to update to the "newer" idrive system with 3D maps and such? Maybe even the update menu buttons?

I've done some research and I've found both normal software updates via the BMW website (doubt this does much) as well as an "ISTA" update from this guy: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1312102.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for what I'd need to do (and if this is possible)?

If I'm not mistaken you already have 3D maps. 3D only works at 800' and below and in certain cities; SD is one of them.

Does your car have 3D maps? I'm definitely not seeing it in mine (and I've checked the settings but I can recheck). I was thinking I could get it with a quick update but wasn't sure.

Change map view to perspective and the 3D buildings etc will pop up in areas so mapped.

in some areas, (downtown) you will see 3D mapping. I dont always see it though.

I will feel very stupid if the fix is that simple haha but I'll try that on my way home from work and let you know if it works. Otherwise is there a setting to turn it on/off that I maybe can't find?

Checked my car and there is in fact a "3D" as well as a "Google Maps" option...am I just not seeing these things because I need to have a ConnectedDrive subscription or something? I still can call and get free service via the SoS button...but maybe I don't full understand my options here.

Can anyone clarify?
