So far the three things tried have been:
Service Check performed as indicated CIC replaced SIB B34 02 13 implemented I'll update as soon as I have anything to report. At least the SIB will correct the erroneous brake replacement warning |

Just out of curiosity have you downloaded the BMW Remote APP? Mine has stopped honking horn and light flash.

My horn honk and light flashing was working and just quit. Wonder if there is any correlation?

This may be a very difficult problem to identify and to resolve on a consistent basis. I now have a feeling that any one of the ECUs in the car could be throwing a fault code and the iDrive interface has no idea how to tell the technician which ECU, or ECUs, have problems. And your ECU problems may be different than mine so what may work in my car may not work in yours. I think now that replacing the CIC may have been analogous to replacing a computer's monitor when the computer blue-screens. The screen was not to blame. I'm very interested to hear what the dealership has in mind, especially since this is the fourth time with this problem documented in my car.
With your question about the BMW Remote App not working anymore, maybe there IS a connection and I will certainly let the service manager know that my car stopped responding to those signals. It's a great thing about this forum that we contribute to solving these occasional common problems. Thank you! |

Hmmm, BMW probably have built this car already during the late 90s

Oh! And here all along I thought it was the worm hole I flew through at Warp 9 that disturbed the space-time continuum! Silly me!

Similar discussion about the remote apps. I've asked the linked thread's OP to update this thread with his service results.

My dealer will not induct my car for service yet because they don't know yet what they will do with it. I'm not sure which of us will have an answer first, so it's good we are all communicating.

My SA asked for me to give him a couple of weeks to get everything and everybody set up and to plan to bring in my car in the first week of September.
Either it's going to be one heck of a party and the invitation list is long and complicated, or the local Field Support Engineer and some other non-local technicians are involved. |

Mine is supposedly fixed. They did a battery reset which he described as a hard reboot to reinitialize the CID. They were completely lost on the BMW remote APP. They thought I could not get the light to flash or car chirp using the physical remote.
