Bird poo etch!
Help!!
Had some birds drop a load on the boot lid and passenger door, wiped it off and had car washed but it's left an etch in the clear coat How can I get this out? I've got meguiars ultimate compound which was recommended, this has knocked it down a fair bit. I've also got some g3 paste wax to go on the car once our weather sorts itself out Any tips? |

Some pics would help, but likely you won't be able to make it disappear. Wet sanding with some 3000 grit sandpaper may help, but only take this step after some less aggressive measures. You might check with some detail shops and see if they can help as well.

Hi Newbie here this being my first post. ok just got my hands on a 2013 F10 520d and I love it. When I was cleaning it the other day I spotted some faint scratches and blemishes in it so like yourself I treated it to a bit of meguiars ultimate compound which I did by hand. yeah it did ok but not great so looked on line and decided to go with their DA polishing system complete with all pads. Tried again first by claying it down using dodo juice and their clay bar, then used the compound then changed pad then used auto glym paint restorer and then finally meguiars gold class wax and I have to say it did a bloody good job with getting the scratches and blemishes out. Luckily never had any issues with bird poo, hope you get it sorted.

Hi guys, I have a similar problem. I got my 535i a few days ago and recently noticed some white 'water' spots on the left tail light. (

There are also products designed for plastic, but if you have some paint polish, I would try it first. |

BMW oem paint on the F10 will include self healing clear.
Clean up the bird poo, then leave car in exposed sunlight for a couple days. Etching Should disappear.

I think it has more to do with how porous the substrate is. I'm sure you've seen what wax can do to rubber trim, causing white stains. Same problem can occur with plastic. My guess is that if the plastic is in good shape, and not dried out/porous, you probably won't have an issue. I just use pure polishes to polish plastic and then seal with a synthetic sealant.
