Need some advice
Hello Gents, I have posted this in the F30 section but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post here.
I need some advice, please! I'm not sure it will push me one way or the other but it can't hurt to get some opinions. I am currently looking at changing cars and I have narrowed it down to two choices after ruling out the new Mustang as we are not getting the GT350. Whilst I like the 328 I think I am looking for something a little more luxurious rather than "sporty". I drive around 25-30K kms a year and a mix of both highway and City. I do like to go a bit quick every now and then but if I want to go fast I hop on my bike. Option 1 is a 528 M Sport with all the standard bits, sunroof, professional pack, comfort seats, Nappa leather, adaptive dampers for $105k. Option 2 is a C250 with AMG pack, light pack, seat comfort pack, command and air agility pack for $93k. It's not going to come down to the $'s between these two just not sure which way to go. With saying all that I have taken the Benz for a test drive and loved it and I am waiting on a 528 demo to come in. BTW I have absolutely no brand loyalty to BMW! What are your thoughts on either? Thanks ever so much. H |

I agree with X-men. The C class is the wrong comparison. The E class is the proper comparison for the 5er. Both cars are dramatically different. The handling and comfort levels are the main differences. Drive an E, 528 and 535 and then make your choice.
p.s. I owned MBs from 1979 to 2012 and BMWs from 2003-present.

Appreciate the advice Gents.
The E and 535 are not options. The 535 is around $150K out here and I haven't priced the E but I'm sure it will be up there is well. You see my "predicament" then as I know the C and the 5 are not a direct comparison but they are the two choices. Thanks. |

I am on my second 528. This time around its 2015 528xi msport (big improvement over MY12). I am very happy with the car and I also test drove the new C300 (we don't have C250 in US). Like you said if you need a luxury ride, 528 will definitely deliver. Don't worry about the dynamics either, the car is by no means sluggish, especially when compared against C250. Good Luck with your choice !

Well Chaps, after much consternation I have just ordered the new car.
Was going to buy the new Mustang but I only wanted the GT350 and they are not coming down here, was also looking at the new C class. So, I have ordered a F10 528 with M sport package. Details are: Mineral Grey Mocha Nappa Leather and anthracite trim Professional package (comfort access, connected drive freedom, DAB, driving assistant, driving assistant plus, HUD, lane change warning, heated seats, multifunctional instrument display, surround view) Sunroof Comfort Seats, with ventilation Dynamic damper control Soft close doors Ceramic surrounds Front Splitter Rear Spoiler M5 grills M pedals. Not much more I could add in! Now that wait begins, again. H |

Congrats on the purchase! But I can't believe they want try 150 or the 535? I think the 535 would have been an all around complete package of power and luxury.

He's in Australia so the conversion rate might be high.
Good choice ont he 528 M sport. I didnt see this sooner but I hope you order the multi contour seats. I drive about 25k miles a year as well and i spend a lot of seat time in the car and its just pure heaven. Save yourself the backpains and get the better seat options! : ) good luck with the car! |

I have driven both the c63 and a fully bolt on 335i and i choose the 335i I have driven the sl500 and 650i and choose the 650i I have driven the E550 and the 550i and i choose the 550i and i have driven the c250 coupe. My personal opinion is that BMW is literally "THE ultimate driving machine". I know i sound like a commercial. But although i haven't owned every car up there (other than the 550i) I have driven them a lot. If i could go back in time, I would have rather gotten a honda accord as my 1st car. Because getting a fully loaded 528xi (e60) set my standards so high that now every car i look at doesn't have my attraction. Between the handling to the braking of the car, to the service and luxury of bmw i don't think you can beat it. I never liked MB's for one reason and one reason only. The navigation screen. It just looks so Out dated. I haven't kept up to see if they made any new changes. But i know my cousin has a 2013 s550 and i just don't understand how he gave $125,000(usd) for something that looks nice on the outside. If i were you. Id get a 535i. Its not that much more expensive than the 528i and the gas mileage is not too different either. 528i MSRP $50,000 240hp MPG 34hwy - 23city. 535i MSRP $55,000 300hp MPG 31hwy - 20city. For the money, I'd get the c250. For luxury I'd get the 535i.(also if you do get the 535i still get the m-sport because i regret that i did not get that package) |

Also, where I am the difference between the 528 and 535 is way more than $5K. Thanks though. |
