Went from ACS springs to H&R springs

Update

Switched to H&R springs and am much happier with the outcome.

Pics 1-2 are ACS springs

Pics 3-4 are H&R springs

Picture are hard to tell the difference but with ACS I had a rack and with H&R springs I have an even drop
The fronts of the H&R are a bit higher than the ACS

Is it me or does your ACS springs sit just as low as H&R now. How many mm did it lower your car?

ya I was also surprised about the drop, if you look at the part numbers the XI part numbers are different than the regular 535i. The part number for the 535xi share the part number with the 528xi and that is due to the fact that the XI have a higher permissible axle load. Same goes with the 550xi share the same part number as the 535i because of this permissible axle load.

I still don't understand it 100% but do have an E-mail to ACS

Maybe someone has a better understanding than I do. Read this off of their site.

I won't lie this is definitely the lowest drop I've seen from acs. It looks great just wondering what's different mine definitely doesn't sit that low.

Went to H&R

ACS was too low in the front and were a bit soft, yes H&R are a little stiffer but have a even drop and actually sit a little higher in the front compared to ACS. For everyday driving and spirited driving I am very happy with H&R springs they drive better and have the feel that I was looking for. I had H&R on my E39/F30/ and now on my F10. I am very happy with the H&R springs.
Also installed the M5 front sway bar and 550d rear sway bar and wow the handling is much much better.

Very neat thread. This is probably the first time I have read of someone going from ACS to HR. I am actually not thrilled with the look of my ACS springs on my 535i. I feel that the back looks too low. It has that dragging rear look IMO. I wish I kept my initial set-up of ACS up front and OEM in the rear. It also bottoms out at times when I go over large bumps. I think also think the recoil on the OEM is smoother while the ACS makes the rear a little too fast. Sorry to vent. Just thought I would share my 0.02

OP, your HR drop definitely looks better from the pics. It has that athletic look I like.

Thank you
I also had a problem that the ACS springs were bottoming out (hitting bump stops) bc they were a bit soft. I actually went over the same bump that I bottomed out with the ACS with the H&R springs and NO bottoming out with the H&R springs.

I went with H&R springs on my first F10 back in 2011. Now I have a 2014 and without a doubt I am going with H&R again.

Very nice drop F10N55..

thank you,
I would highly recommend getting the m5/550d sway bars the car is so much better to drive. from a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best in handling.

Stock- 5.5
H&R -7.5
Sway bars with springs-9

Did you do both front and rear sway bars or just the front? Where did you source the bars - I noticed that H&R makes them as well, were the 535D/M5 ones less expensive?

Yes I did both front and rear, not sure if they are less expensive than H&R.
There is a nice thread about this

I recently put H&R front and rear sway bar on my 14 550i. I got them at mod bargain for around $750. I also have H&R spring on the car. The car corner a lot flatter now. But on the bumpy road the suspension felt real rough. But otherwise the car now is a lot more fun to drive.
