Do you leave your dash cam permanently in the car??

Got mine connected and all wiring hidden. Looks great. Looks maybe too great though...... Worries me now that, whilst this might be a good way to avoid crash for cash etc, does it make the car a target for breaks ins to nick the dashcam????
What about you guys?

Good question and was thinking about fitting a dash cam but had the same concern.

I leave mine in the car all the time. It's a small Möbius mounted up behind the rear view mirror so quite discreet.

My Blackvue 650S all the time, no one can really notice it behind the mirror.

After a lot of research because of reliability problems of some of the cheaper dashcams, I stumped up and got this one, it is superb.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

£30-40 more than one of the cheap ones direct from China but I thought with a expensive car its the least I can do. However, it needs one of those suction thing's which make it too big to go behind the rear-view mirror. It has to go "alongside" the mirror and underneath the dotted marks on the windscreen that are near the mirror. This makes the dashcam more visible. I'd post a pic but you can't post pictures directly onto this site....

I'm thinking of getting one for rear view as well. Too many crash for cash scams about......

Did you get this installed Shiner or just charge the camera as required? I am interested in one of these, especially since I tow and the things people will do to get past me begs belief... I don't fancy wires all over the place so advice welcome.

I have the big Bmw Advanced Eye Dash cam installed in my 435d and it is left in the car permanently. It has the blue LED light which flashes when it is recording movement when the car is parked up so people know they are being recorded.

Had a brief look at this but seems quite expensive. Can you let me know what the installation costs were?

Yes i got the Front & Rear installed from Bowker Bmw on offer for £550

Then 2 weeks later i part exchanged the car but the Bmw dealership said they wouldn't give me any more or any less money with them fitted or not. So i got a friend of mine who does retroftting to remove them for me before i gave the car to the dealership and then install them into my new 4 series when i collected it. He just charged me £50 to remove them and £50 to refit them to the new one.

They are brilliant because they record for 5 hours when the car is parked up. It records when motion is sensed and saves it to the SD card as a 30 second clip so you can easily access any recorded data. You can choose in the settings to have the LED light flashing when the camera is recording when it is parked up.

It also has a G Force sensor so if you break hard it will start recording and save it to the 'events' section, so you can easily access the recording incase of an accident where you had to break hard.
