At a BMW dealer, they'll charge as much as they can get away with. Get a few quotes and play them off against one another if you want to keep the FBMWSH.
Last time I paid for one at a dealer - a 2nd oil service - it was ~£300. Indy is about half that. |

I think you are looking at nearer £550 - £600.
2nd service and that mileage you will need the following done: Engine oil service Microfilter service Service - vehicle check Intake Silencer service Service fuel Filter Service standard scope. I know this because I'm having mine done on Monday - same mileage and the 2nd service. |

Pretty much what njc said...I had mine done at 34k from sytner Solihull for around the 600 mark... I'm now sitting at 47k, think it'll be 10k oil changes after the first 50k
Going back in Monday for a rattle when the steering column is turned |

Next year I will be going to an independent (if I haven't changed the car by then) as my local indie quoted half the price of a main dealer. To be fair to him he did say it was best to use main dealer whilst car is still under warranty. |

Will use main dealer as you advise for this service then will see I wanted to get a few quotes over the phone so that is why I was wondering if I need to check that the service would include the things you mention - just so I don't get a good quote and then find when I go in ... Actually sir you need Blah blah blah as well ' so this brings the cost to. £700 ! |

Hi realistically the only items they could pick would be brakes and tyres. All other items should still be covered by the three year warranty.
On tyres your dealer will match (if pushed) the likes of blackcircles so they will be there or there abouts. Brakes are another matter and I had the following prices quoted from main dealers for an F10 530d. Fronts £734 from Peter Vardy Edinburgh. Rears £434 from Barons Farnborough In the end I sourced genuine Front pads and discs from germany as my car was out of warranty and i have very good independent I use. I paid up for the rears, however if your independent has autologic then they can wind the electric parking brake back via the computer (note it can be done manually). If my car was still in warranty I would probably pay up to BMW to maintain goodwill/warranty. Hope this helps. Last edited by gtthree; 07-03-2016 at 02:42 PM.. |

I paid £590 earlier in the year, seems really expensive to me but if you consider the service intervals and look at cost per annum it's not too eye watering.

Thanks for the input guys ... Please note also the new tyre was included in the price so i would say 500 is the figure to aim for for the second service . My first service came in at 284 for oil and micro filter so service pack well worth it of course

The service pack cost £790 to apply my 535D MSport Touring - which you can do on a used car too as long as it is before the first service. The first service alone - which I believe is just oil and filter - would have been over £350. It is a no-brainer to buy the service pack if you can and it makes the car more attractive if you sell it on.

Did anyone else have to have a new tyre put on at the first service? It was 'recommended' that I have a new one put on at the rear because it was rubbing - 1.5 years later original tyre seems to be ok!

One if the things I found out after my 2nd service was the iDrive is way off the mark when it came to brakes pad wear. I had my car serviced at 35000 miles and got the dealership to check my brakes pads as the fronts have been showing 3200 miles for sometime and the rears showing 10000. They reported I had the following remaining - Fronts 6mm 58 % and rears 9mm 90% which leads me to conclude the miles showing as remaining in the idrive is not very accurate.

Appears the algorithm for pad wear on many models may be on the 'safe' side. The actual 'physical' wear rate can only apply once the 1st stage of the wear sensor actually triggers, then the 2nd stage indicator for replacement is factual. |

Yes my CBS was indicating need for new front pads at second service with 3200 miles left . Service tech inspection revealed they were no where near needing replacing . Was nicely surprised by their honesty !
