f10 n55 JB4 harness conversion

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired a used JB4 that the seller claimed was Harness B style. Unfortunately it is not, which has led me on a search for someone who wants to trade as I now have Harness A but need Harness B.

I know that BMS will exchange the harness for $250. Being the cheap ass I am, I will be trying to convert it. I believe I have located both male and female replacement connectors and will be trying to swap once items arrive. I believe going from Harness A connector to Harness B connector will require me to "flip flop" the wires from what I can tell in the photos as the pins do not line up in the same position. Stay tuned.

EDIT:

See attached PDF of conversion

Why don't you return or ask for discount from seller?

New connectors came in and it was a relatively easy swap. Change out the pins and put it in new connector. I followed photos online to see which color went with the correct connector. Photos to follow.

Installed JB4 in car and it is good to go. If there is enough demand, I may put together a kit for people vs the $250 it costs for a new harness.

I'm having the same issue, I have a BMS stage1 typeA from my old "11" X5 N55.. I traded for a "14" F10 N55 and need a type B, I don't see myself paying all that money for just a newer plug. Can you help me with a solution?

Thx

I have an extra set of connectors that I can offer to you for some money. I'll be posting some photos of the process when I get time if you want to wait to see what's involved.

just to add and VENT, i sent BMS a email to find out my options & possibly buying a Harness B... ANDO@bms replied with exact - "we don't sell the harness alone". what a great sale person he is, sht I'm asking you what are my options and spend some money to get a dry dead end answer.

ANDO if your reading this, go efffff urself :-) smilie face

No issues since installed. All the wiring is the same, only the connectors are switch out. No splicing or modifying. Looks just like it would coming from BMS. I'll upload photos over the weekend. To my knowledge no one else has done this before, so no PDF to follow.

Attached is a PDF I made that should help guide people for trying to convert their harness.

I traded my 2011 535i for a 2014 and I want to use my tuner I already own. Looks easy enough to change the connector using the pdf. Where are you guys sourcing the connectors? $250 from Burger is way too much!
