Production date

Might buy this F10, it's a 2011 535i. Which production date is better, where they fixed a lot of the complaints in 2011?

that's the sticker the owner sent me, on the left, is that the production date? Should I avoid that date? It says July 19, 2011.

Or should I just look for a 2012? Did they fix all the damn complaints about steering and ish on July 2011 production ? Because I know the complaints about the 2011 F10 were 2010 production dates. Thoughts?

Edit: production date might be June 21, 2011. I looked up the vin. Is that a good date or stay away?

Enter the last 7 characters of the VIN on this site and it will give you all the info on the car.

I would stay away from the. 2011's - lots of first model year issues.

So you can fix it in your spare time? Unless you have access to BMW computer systems for maintenance, you might be heading to the dealer for some problems.

You've been warned . The problems aren't as much with reliability as with poor design that had to be corrected in future model years - poor steering feel, suspension that crashes causing tire problems, throttle tip-in issues, etc. Head over to Bimmerfest and talk to guys like needsdecaf who refer to the 2011 models as "half-baked". Read the car mag reviews of the 2011's as well - not good.

I've had a great ownership experience with my 03/2011 build 535i but it has benefited from software updates which totally fixed the tip-in throttle feel and a Condition Based Service (CBS) bug (service due since 01/2000). I am happy with my car because my SA was even more concerned about these issues than I was and he went out of his way to make me happy. Both of my problems were software. And they have been resolved. Can your shops do BMW software updates?

BMW usually releases their hand held computer systems for independent shops after LCI, as usually after warranty From manufacture expires people bring them to independent shops because we are way cheaper than dealers for the same work.

Thank you everyone for your input!

MWpros, I do understand BMW fixed the steering issue and others via updated software, how much better is your car after the update? Did dealer charge you? Please give me full details. Did you have any reliability issues? Thank You!

I have a May 2011 built M-Sport and have had no problems, except for this week when the battery was replaced under warranty. Has been the most trouble free car owned.

Sorry for the delay! I never had a steering issue. I do rotate and balance my (non-staggered) wheels ever 5-6000 miles.

The car drives noticeably more smoothly after the tip-in acceleration fix. With the correct software, this car accelerates like a magnetic rail gun projectile. It's a smooth and seamless 6 seconds up the freeway on-ramp.

I have never been charged for any work done on the car except for an alignment after I had springs installed. That was elective, and is not covered under the free maintenance program. If I sound like a paid advertisement, sorry, but I am very happy with my car, and the service it has received
