JB3 threw CEL HELP!

I was driving on the freeway and the CEL showed up. I looked at the vehicle status and all systems are ok, I checked under the hood and everything is plugged in. Not sure what it is. Any help would be great

Best bet is to contact Terry at Burger Motorsports. You might be able to get any autoparts store to pull the code for you for free. Without the code it could be anything and impossible to diagnose.

AutoZone does free diagnostics. Just show the guys where your OBDII connection is located, and they can pull the code(s). Once pulled, call BMS for support.

Once catch is, I don't think a standard BT scanner will pull codes on N55s (it's worth a shot).

Please keep us posted.

I had engine malfunction 2 weeks ago. I was lucky to be able to drive it home that day. Couldn't start the engine after that. I immediately unplugged the cable, took the kit out and put everything back to original. Called BMW and had them tow the car the next morning.
BMW asked me if I had any performance tune on the car. I said "NO". They said the computer needs reprogramming/update. Problem fixed and they returned the car to me that same day.
I wonder if it had anything to do with the JB3. I plugged the kit back in and now only adjust the boost to 4.0 instead of 4.75 I had before.

I got into the car today and the "emissions" light turned off, so I'm guessing the problems is fixed. not sure if i should look at the codes or not?

those codes are probably still stored for BMW to find - I would consider getting them erased by a shop with a GT1 scanner or something else that can delete shadow codes

I went to a mechanic yesterday who had some type of obd II scanner and I had him erase them but apparently terry says you need a special kind of code reader

Yes, you will need a scanner that reads BMW proprietary codes. I don't know of a scanner that exists yet for the F10 that would be affordable to us, or most indy's for that matter...

I emailed Bavarian Technic last week and they said they are working on support for the F10, but don't have a release date yet - they mentioned likely by year end.

I uninstalled it. Is it risky taking it into the dealer without deleting the codes!?

If you bring it in you are running the risk that the tune caused trouble codes that lead BMW to ascertain that you had a tune and deny warranty work, but if you are still having problems after you removed the tune I don't think you have another choice. There is no way to know for sure if your car stored these codes or not without having the appropriate scanner.

If you took it out and aren't having problems I wouldn't bother bringing it in - just work with Terry to resolve the issues if you're interested in re-installing the tune.

Nah I brought mine in and simply removed the harness and played dumb. No one asked me anything. They said there was a malfunctioned mass air flow sensor and the bov actuator stopped working. I have a real funny feeling at 4800 miles, this jb3 is pushing the car too hard and thus all the CEL people are getting. We all know the charge pipe flimsyness too. I'm of the opinion things will start falling apart and fast if you boost over the stock range the car expects. You can thank crappy made parts. Cheers

You should go to a place like Bullet in CM or Coast motor Werk in irvine. They only work on BMWs they should know. I think bullet installs tunes from AA so they should know a lot about this.

Wow, it is that serious??? I thought this product was well tested. I had it on for 8000 miles already. The car had engine problem 2 weeks ago, which I don't know if it was caused by the JB3 or not.
Like Oldrandomguy did, I also took the kit out and played dumb. They just update/reprogram the computer. Problem fixed. I immediately reinstall the kit set it at 4.0 (was at 4.75 before). It has been 2 weeks. No problem so far.

SHOULD I BE WORRY??????
