ARM N63 Intake any reviews?
Hello,
I stumbled across an intake which seems to be a cheaper version of the N63intake. Has anyone tried it? It's priced right at $397 http://www.armmotorsports.com/BMW-F1...n63-intake.htm |

I hit them up. Sounds like a variant of badblack's intake. The cones stay inside of the engine bay instead of behind the grills and they come with k&n filters instead of the stainless steel mesh that badblack's come with...
I may give this a try. At under 400 bucks that's not bad at all... I am kinda tired of waiting around for an intake solution but don't want to pay over 1k for an intake plus the people selling the used n63intakes here are flakes. Last edited by Simple5; 11-05-2017 at 02:10 AM.. |

Ordered. I'll report back with pics and a review but I'm also going to order the afe dry filter cones to replace the oiled k&n ones. Don't want to deal with oiling filters.

Actually looking at the design and the install instructions that they sent me the filters are at the front and a portion of the intake snorkel is still intact (Or some type of air piping) and feeds outside air onto the filters. To me it actually makes more sense than having the filters open to the elements.

Nope, that’s all hot air. Ambient temps in the engine bay are through the roof. I would add flex pipe just like badblack intake all the way to the grill or fabricate some type of piping and add couplers

Adding a flex pipe and going to the front grills wouldn't be difficult either, I've already planned for that.. couplers, flex pipe and all... the biggest thing was the parts where the mass airflow sensors connect to. Either way sub 400 bucks and a little more invested (under 100) would still be less than a used gen 1 badblack intake.
I am in no way knocking badblack, he's a true pioneer of the n63, it's just nice that I can get something that's viable that I can tinker with without breaking the bank. Last edited by Simple5; 11-05-2017 at 08:35 AM.. |

They just shipped mine and it's usps priority mail coming from Illinois. Should be here by Wed. I will snap a bunch of pics and install asap... I do want to get those afe dry cones ordered but I need to know the part numbers of the intakes K&N cones.
The downpipes are tempting but with no kind of o2 sim or dp fix then that's a no go for me (went through that with my old n54). Unless they come out with a catted solution. |

i still contend that no intake design is going to produce much or anything other than noise until the decreasing diameter 'funnel' heading into the turbo is addressed. what good does a 8" diameter pipe do if you connect to a something that tapers to 3"? My point was...the bend of the factory piping that goes INTO the turbo is always going to be a limiting factor on the intake. Notice how it doesn’t look like that on the M5’s engine... |

Got my intake today and will probably install it once I order some dry filter replacements AFE/AEM etc. Got so much stuff going on today. I have to say that this is a pretty quality product for under 400 bucks.. i have to look for a dry filter replacement for the k&n though because I don't want an oiled filter... yes, they flow more etc but I don't want to deal with cleaning/oiling etc... I'll just save the k&n for when I have to clean the drys..
Snapped a quick unpacking pic. |
