Key Fob size

Why is the Key Fob so much bigger for the F10 over the e60/s?

I was expecting with the passage of time smaller, cheaper, better fob. I have comfort access (proximity) on my e60, never insert it to "key slot" and seems to do everything that the f10 one does. I just cant figure out what extra things it is doing to justify the increased size and weight.

It's due to the new European Trouser Safety Standard which requires that key fobs have active air bags to prevent injury in a fall or other sudden impact, thus the larger size. If you see someone with an unsightly bulge or a case of the "puffy pants," smile at them and ask how they like their shiny new BMW.
