Not sure about going to Stage 3 or 4. Coming from the world of VW/Audi I know the stock turbos don't last if you provide too much boost. Do you really think an intercooler upgrade and less restrictive exhaust on stock turbos can be pushed to over 600lbs of torque without issue? Also I am leery that Dinan isn't providing tangible numbers for Stage 3 & 4 setups.

The difference in boost between stage 2 and stage 3 is tiny if any. The stage 3 tune is simply optimized to take advantage of the less restrictive back pressure.

The 550i is so under-tuned from factory it is silly. These are Garrett/Honeywell KT22 turbos. You dont think that they can't handle producing 1 bar of boost??? (14.5 psi is what my stage 3 tune is producing, according to my P3cars boost gauge). My crappy KKK K03 turbos on my old Audi B5 S4 produced 1.2 bar of boost all day long for 30k miles with my GIAC x-chip. Those turbos were far inferior to our Honeywell setup.

Remember, it is not too tough to make that much torque when you are pushing 1 bar through a 4.4 liter V8.

This. I knew when I ordered my 550 that the 2014s would likely have a power bump and that is how I justified the S2 upgrade at delivery.

Not sure I would want another 5 series as a I have a 6 in my sights. As others have said, the 6 is what the 5 should have been.

My 2013 550 has the Stage 3 Dinan. I wouldn't swap it out for a 2014 to loose all that power.

I'd imagine that it'll be a while before Dinan has a tune for the 2014 anyways w/ the new engine tweak.

Anyone know what the comparison of the JB1 to Dinan tunes? Other than cost.

I have Stage 4 and Intercoolers done last week. Its awesome. Very good improvement! Worth every penny.

Did you previously have S3? Can you tell me more specifically your thoughts between the two? What do you notice the most and how big of a change it was? I'm ser considering doing it, but don't know anyone who's gone from S3 to S4 (I currently have S3 w/ Dinan exhaust).

Yes I had Stage 3 since about Nov 12 so its been about 5 mos total on the car. I would say that Stage 3 is definitely and enhancement over OEM and in all honesty the car should come tuned that way from BMW with say the M Sport package and the Sport transmission option! or something. I mean I am sure BMW could offer it as a special option and charge just as much as Dinan does. The stock car is just too soft and quiet. Too Lexus/MB like and not as much of a sports sedan and drivers car despite the fantastic engine. Dinan Stage 4 just takes the car to the next level especially with the Intercoolers. Car is just tight and with the added enhancements I've done..the whole car is now tied together they way it should have been able to be delivered from the factory...only way to get it from BMW this way it seems it pony up the extra $25-35k for the M5! Dinan gives 98% of that for what you can use on the streets and for a majority of ones driving needs for what 1/3-1/4 of that price delta? Definitely a no brainer IMHO. No regrets man at all.
