When I did the coilovers for the first time on my first E60, I followed this DIY:
http://5series.net/forums/diy-do-you...install-85378/ The MAJOR caveat I would add: If you have sports or M Sport package with ARS, disconnect the sway bar end links. Since you have to move the front suspension quite a bit to get the struts out without damaging your fenders if you have ARS and it's under tension the sway bar end links will be stressed and pop out after everything is put back together. |

I am not sure, I haven't checked. The E60 had a coilover strut system, it was one unit. So removing the strut removed the spring as well, very few companies have true coilovers from the factory.

A coil-over looks very much like a strut; with the exception the coil-over isn't part of the steering geometry. My Lincoln LSes all had/have coil-overs.

On the E60 the springs were over the struts all around, the only car of similar vintage, design, and level that I did coilovers on that had separate springs was the Mercedes E Class - it had separate springs from shocks in the rear (and they were a real pain to remove, trust me).

Coil overs, shocks or springs you're gonna need an extra person to help. Don't go it some. A long breaker bar for pushing down on the control arms is needed.

I got a friend that's gonna help but wanted some pointers on anything I should know that wasn't mentioned? My only concern was the sway bar as the picture wasn't really clear where the bolt is?

http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=782992 Used those for my KW install. Same process. Sway Bar: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=717144 http://f10.5post.com/forums/showpost...9&postcount=67 Really easy. You're gonna need a e-torx socket, size E18. 4 bolts under the front. Going to need to remove the under body panels held on by a bunch of screws. Goodluck!! http://f10.5post.com/forums/showpost...&postcount=150 Last edited by tdang81; 03-22-2016 at 11:35 PM.. |

^^^^ That's awesome. The front is identical to the E60 way, just the rear is different because of the extra parts in the way of the shock. Should be pretty straight forward.
