I took a look at my invoice - not very helpful, didn't even mention the software update of the steering angle sensor (as well as another item that was performed and not listed either). Both were done - I dropped an e-mail to my SA and asked him for the part # - will let you know.

Invoice? are you paying for this service?

becuase, my dealer would not give me any report for fixes done under warrenty.

They are zero dollar warranty invoices - just the regular paper trail procedure...

Dealer just called twice with updates....
Day 1.....Car is fixed...they replaced some parts, but they need to have the bmwna rep look at the car

Day 2....BmwNA rep test drove car with head shop foreman and bmwna said it needed another alignment. They say it is drives straight now.

Tomorrow AM....pick up the car and hope:

Steering wheel is centered.
Equal amount of air is in each tire
Car drives straight.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the dealer did what they promised for my new 550.......will let you know.

I had 3 loaners in the last three weeks...all 328s. Getting a little tired of driving around in a loaner....also got pulled over because I didn't set up the bluetooth in the car on the second loaner (handsfree law in CA).

There should have been something on the invoice to indicate these fixes, including at least some form of software update. Even software downloads take a certain amount of time and someone to work the computer to do it. One would think that since these are bookable hours....the dealer should be accounting for them somehow, so they can get compensated for warranty work from BMW.

Let us know what the SA says. I'm guessing that he/she is not going to be very specific............I hope I'm wrong.

So someone here has a late December build date and still has minor drifting to the right. What month of production do we start seeing NO drifting at all? I placed an order on April 19th 2011...should I excpect drifting??

I think the "Bimmer" moniker should be renamed to "Bummer" - at least until BMW figures out their steering issue (or goes back to go 'ole hydraulic).

My 1st F10 (April 2010 build) had IAS and had the pull and I loved IAS. I ordered my 2nd F10 (March 2011 build) with IAS and no pull whatsoever.

delvek, you ordered a 2011 last April. How early did BMW start taking orders on 2011's and when were the first ones built? From what my dealer told me as of today you could still order a 2011. Seems like a long model year.

I think it was a little different last year because the "official" release of the F10 was June 19th not the traditional September time period.

I ordered my 1st F10 I believe in March of 2010 and took delivery June 19th, it sat at my local dealer for a couple of weeks because they wouldnt release it until the 19th.

Hope that helps.

Forgive me for a possible hijack, but since there are probably a lot of people following this thread, I have a related question with the steering.

We've all heard complaints of a vague on-center feel. My car feels like the power steering assist is an on/off switch sometimes, and although it doesn't pull to the side, it is difficult to keep straight on the highway without constant correction. And at high speeds, the steering "feel" seems quite artificial and above 80 MPH the steering loads up unnaturally. Or so it seems to me.

I suspect that if I bring this complaint to the service department they will retort with "they all do that". Is that a fair assumption? Because if so, I'm not going to waste my time.

That was part of my issue, and it was solved with road force balancing and good alignment.

Unfortunatley...the car still pulls.

Of course they'll tell you that - it's the official "company response". I'd still go if I were you - BMW will eventually get the message and permanently fix the damned problem if enough people complain and keep bringing their cars back in.

That is completely true. We had the same issue with lag/hesitation in the DCT gearbox in the M3 which BMW eventually fixed - took a fair bit of complaining and noise from a lot of owners to make that happen though.

After posting here few months back, on my 1st visit the front tires were crossed and struts were reindexed. Pulling to right issues got better but car would still drift to either side. This past week I went in for 2nd visit for steering again and a software update was performed. Got my car back today after being at dealer for 3 days and it drives much better! Seems to keep on track, no more drifting or pulling. Steering doesn't feel as light anymore and the software update also seemed to help with throttle delay. Hope it keeps performing the way it did today. Only time will tell.

See if it now is wandering on the highway.

Do you have a part number on the repair order?
