Carbon Fiber Spoiler Questions
Is the carbon fiber deck lid "lip" spoiler the only one that can be ordered from the factory, or can the body colored one be ordered direct as well? I see a lot of forum members with the body colored version installed. How do they mount? Thanks.

Mine had to be painted by the dealer; they indicated they come with the carbon fiber look only.

So, let me repeat what I think you are saying. Everybody who has the small spoiler on the back, and who ordered thr car with it - is either having it painted (while on the car?) body color? OR If they did not get it from the factory that way, they are simply going to the dealer, having it painted, then installing? Seriously? How does it mount, two sided tape? Those who have it please speak up! Thanks.

There is a non carbon fiber version, ordered mine from from evan @ getbmwparts.com.
a good deal less $ than the carbon fiber model too They will have it painted in your color and shipped to you WITH tape fasten it on. BMW P/N is 51628049268.

This is the info I was looking for. I am quite mechanically inclined. That said, does a template of some sort come with this spoiler to insure exact placement fore-aft and side to side - or can it really only go one one way/one place? Thanks for your help!

i'm not going to do the installation myself, regardless of any included instructions. I have a local high end paint/body shop who will do it while I wait for a few sheckels.

Bump. Let me try this again... Who has installed the spoiler him/herself? Did you just have the dealer paint it? Who just had the dealer handle the whole thing. My problem is my incredible anal retentiveness... My attention to detail on MY car will far exceed that of any tech...
