Vanos Solenoids

What's up guys, my n63 with 53k miles has the DTML come on every few weeks or so for "Cold start "A" camshaft position timing over retarded (bank 2)". I want to replace both A and B while I'm on there.

I took them out and cleaned them with brake cleaner. I thought i cracked the code and it fixed, but no, about a few weeks later the code came back.

I bought aftermarket ones and tried installing them and they don't want to insert in. There's probably a quarter inch that needs for them so sit flush, but they don't want to go in and click. I got the old ones and they go in like butter and click all the way in. I changed the o-rings from the old ones to the new ones and its the same thing, they don't want to sit flush.

So ultimately i bought OEM solenoids and thought they would go in flush, but WTF, it's the same thing. They DO NOT want to go in. I grab the old ones and they go in without hesitation.

Any opinions or insight?
