Need opinion on wheel color

Hey all!!

Looking for opinion from fellow car enthusiast on wheel color. I have a set of BC Forged wheels in Crystal Burgundy finish. This finish is great, it has a nice brushed look in deep, bright burgundy under the sun and nice dark shade at night. These wheels was custom made and took 5 weeks to get. They are great, strong and lightweight.

I bought these wheels when I had my F10 535 Msport. The paint on my 535 was DGII and I think the burgundy complemented it Dark Graphite Gray very well. I have since replaced my Gray 535 to a white M5. I now have these wheels installed on my M5 and Im not quite sure if the color still works for me. Bear in mind that Im still on the early stage of modding so in the near future, Ill be putting in 35% tints and possibly black or carbon fiber vinyl roof (to match my carbon fiber side sills and side mirrors).

Like I said, the wheels are great and its a bit hard to part with it but I would consider selling it rather than refinishing it so someone else can enjoy the wheels in its original form.

Here are some pics on my 535 and my M5. Any constructive criticism welcome.

I keep my cars stock, most of the time, but do appreciate nice upgrades people make, just can't be bothered myself. Boring as my style might be , I'm a big fan of "machined" wheels "clean look" myself, like this remmib's F10 http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=861814.

Looks are always subjective. In my opinion, those burgundy wheels looked OK...ish on your 535, but really don't go well with your M5. If you don't like clean, machined look, I think that any dark color would work much better, dark gray would match CF upgrades you're planning nicely.

Sorry not feeling it on the white car, kinda looks like a candy cane.

Love the style of the wheels though, looked good when paired with a black car.

It's cool! But a darker wheel or gun metal, machined finish or something probably would look better. Do you know how much they would charge to refinish them? Also, with the wider front fenders did you end up running spacers to push the wheels out?

Thanks guys!! Was looking/thinking of making it darker just cant decide on the shade yet. I definitely think the red is out of place with the white... I like the e39 M5 wheels color, i think its called shadow gray or something. or was thinking of going with a dark Magnesium blue color, i think it will complement the brake calipers nicely. I think wheel refinishing ranges from 150-250 per wheel.

lsturbointeg : No spacers required. The wheels were order with an aggressive specs for my 535. luckily it fits just right on my M5. Funny thing is that nobody talks about the rear fender on the M5 but it is wider than a standard 5 series. These wheels looks too tucked in on my M5 while they were lined up nicely on the 535.

No kidding! I thought the rears were no different than the 5 series body wise. Maybe the rear suspension sits in closer if that makes sense? When I almost went with a M5 I was told on my wheels the fronts would need spacers. Anywho, let us know what you end up doing...I would keep the wheels and just refinish them as they are sweet! Or else for another $5k+ for HRE's or something

That's very true. The offset on the front wheel is 20x9 ET25. It's possible the wheelbase on the rear and suspension geometry is different on the M5. Let's see what happens when I lower it, it might get pushed in more. The rear might need spacers.

Chrome Shadow is the style65 wheel color It's a 3 stage color that's notoriously difficult to get right, but worth it if you can find someone willing to take the challenge.

Same P/N on the quarter panel. 41217240487/41217240488 F10/All. If there is a difference in perceived quarter panel fitment its in the suspension.

I don't understand flamboyantly colored wheels and would go with a silver, brushed, machine or medium gray finish.

It was a phase I was going through. Wanted something loud. I thought it was decent on the gray car but definitely don't look right on white. I'm going with a more traditional look hence I'm asking for other color combo on white cars. I think I'm leaning towards the machines faced or brushed aluminum face. Stay tuned

My Bronze wheels are a matte finish and not high gloss so I think that helps with me. I have yet got tired of the color or think it's too in your face? I do think about changing it up by plastidip them all matte black to have a complete blackout look but I'm fine for now

nothing is wrong with silver. if i was going to pay someone to refinish it, i would go with something a bit more depth than silver. with that said, possibly a brushed aluminum with clear or with a slight dark tint.
