Loud clunk from under the car when going into reverse

So I have been noticing an issue that seems to get worse over the past month.

I drive the car and come to a stop, i put it into reverse and turn the wheel to back into a parking spot and as i begin to move in reverse, I hear a loud clunk from under the car. It happens every time.

The sounds feels like it comes from under the front of the car, maybe associated with the steering. Not sure.

What is causing this?

* edit *
I am taking it to the dealer within the next day to have them look at this issue. Was interested with any potential supplemental data I could provide them to better focus the root cause.

The dealer has the car. I was able to replicate the noise with a tech in the car and he confirmed he heard something, so we'll see. In the meantime i have a i3 loaner that is pretty interesting to drive.

Please update post once you find out. My old e60 does it as well, but not super load. I thought maybe a drive shaft carrier bearing or something of the sort.

The dealer called and said there actually was a service advisory for the front wheel clunking issue. They took apart both front wheels and repacked/repaired the bearing and hub area. After the repair, they indicate that the clunk sound went away.

I was not there to see first hand because my wife went to pick up the car not me.
