I recently purchased a 2011 535xi with 215,000km on it and a stage 1 tune.

No check engine code light (or other dash lights) and when I went to a bmw dealer to get it checked out the only fault codes the car had were for the headlight and door locks.

However every few start ups the car seems to have trouble finding idle. It bounces between 500 and 2000rpm.

Other than this the car drives great. Do you guys have any ideas on what could be causing this?

It could be many things man, fuel, leaks etc. I’d recommend doing a smoke test and seeing if you have any leaks. If you have no leaks, next step is tracking live data of your fueling and seeing if it’s below average values. Injectors can cause rough idles too.
