Now that you mentioned ED, I don't believe that you can identify the ship as you can with a new car delivery. If your dealer is coming up empty, I guess you will have to wait it out.

Thanks for your help anyway. Oh and by the way the post that you ripped as being a "Monday morning post" was actually written Sunday night. LOL.

Hmm.. Did your CA tell you this? I dropped mine off in Paris on the 29th of November, and I have no idea when it will be shipped... I emailed my CA on Friday, but I am still waiting to hear from him.

So I'm curious.. how did you figure out when your car is being shipped? I've tried Harms, but they gave me a number in Cali, and that company really had no clue... at all. I understand a drop off in Munich would be expedited when compared to a Paris drop off... but I hope mine will be delivered sometime in Jan.

Thanks,
Dale

I can see these trackers are for the US. Is there any tracking site, I can go to, to track my new bmw on transit heading to canada?

As long as you know the ship name, you can track it across the Atlantic from Bremerhaven to Halifax.

How do you know which ship it is on? Today was the the first day that on the BMW OWNER's CIRCLE Page it says "EN ROUTE". How accurate is that?

Wait 24-48 hours and then enter your VIN on the WW website to find out what ship you're on.

Is there any way to track the ship once it hits the US? Mine is on the Fidelio and it was left NY on its way to SC then to GA. Sailwx only shows its position at 0600 on 18 August in the Atlantic.

Yes....once it gets close to shore, use http://www.aislive.com/

I just updated the first post. As discussed previously, Sailwx relies on ships reporting their position and sea conditions on a voluntary basis. AIS is a required ship position locater but is only effective near shore.

It can be used for ports all over the world. The reason why you should not use it from the time your ship leaves Bremerhaven is that you need to register for a free trial which gives you only 2 weeks access to the subscriber area. This is iimportant for those whose ships are going to ports not offered to the non-registered user or their voyage is longer than 14 days.
There also seems to be a lag in the time you first register and when you get your sign-in information. Remember to completely fill in the form.
I registered for the free trial, but they wanted to ask me a bunch of questions about how I was going to use the website. They were kind of rude stating that the trial was for companies or people intending to buy the software. Isn't that the point of all trials?

Anyway, I told them to buzz off. I only have a week to go before she docks, and I think I can make it that long without knowing an exact location.

Steve - Thanks for posting this, it's exactly the information I've been searching for.

My F10 left Bremerhaven on Sept 9, I was able to track it off ais-live-co.uk until it left the English Channel. Since it hit open water I've tried to find a way to track it. sailwx.info was exactly what I needed.

The unfortunate part is it's on a K-line ship (Curitiba) which isn't tracked by WMO-VOS. I did manage to track shipping schedules and it's between 2 W&W ships (Independence II and Elektra) which I'm able to track both. It's not exact but it gives me a good idea where the ship (and car) are currently located.

My car will Brunswick GA on the 23rd if all goes well and the captain avoids hurricane Igor.

Once again thanks for posting this!!
