So the wife wants her own 5 series too now!

So I planned on buying her a new Chevy Suburban but she said "why have 2 big vehicles when I can have a sports/luxury car too?" We have a lifted Nissan Titan. Does it make sense having 2 5 series BMW's or should I get her a 6 series? The car will definitely have to be Xdrive but will remain stock! What do you guys think? Appreciate any feedback!

Happy wife happy life.
I have a 5GT and wife has a F10. Although she loves the F10, she still wishes we would've gotten a X5 instead. IMO, every family needs a SUV.

So she has a good taste.....in cars anyway.

Depends what she means by sports/luxury. I would personally avoid having two identical models, no matter how great. My wife absolutely loves my car, though she did say it's "a lot more than what she needs" performance wise. On the other hand she was kinda turned off by slightly less luxurious interiors in X1 and 3 series loaners we had.

Other than that, it's difficult to give you "generic" advice not knowing your lifestyle. If you have a family that does lots of outdoor activities, or kid's organized sports (teams/games...etc.) then F10 and a big SUV or station wagon at least make sense. You know, bigger vehicle that you don't mind hauling stuff, sports bags or camping gear and/or teammates in, and/or having bike/ski rack on. For regular daily use, long trips without tons of gear, F10 is just perfect.

This combination works perfectly for 4 of us.

She liked the X5 but she wants a sports sedan. Our boys are grown and have their own cars and now she just wants her own sports sedan and no more SUV's for her. We both raced back in the days...I had my Integra and she had an Accord so I know what she means when she wants a sports sedan. I showed her the M4 but she thought it was too compact/small. She really likes the 5er because she can really like how there's plenty of seat room in the back for long distant traveling and the occasional girl's night out! She's not to sure about the 6 series because she thinks the back end looks weird.

Wait ... what ??

I don't think you have a problem here at all, just give her your car and get yourself M4 ? Both of you will be happy with that arrangement I'm sure.
Funny that you mentioned size, my wife said the same thing about X1, 2 and 3 series.

There's a CPO M5 for sale at the dealer and I was being sneaky and thought I'll buy this and give her my car but she will need to drive mine during winter so it needs to be an Xdrive. My car hibernates during the winter in storage because RWD sucks in snow

Have you considered a 6GC (even though it has the same rear end as regular 6)?

I think those cars are beautiful for a 4 door car. I would have considered one if they weren't so much more expensive than a 5 series.

I'm just glad my wife isn't in to cars because that would just be another car I'd get obsessed about.

You've only tried it with all seasons... tsk.. tsk.

But seriously though, I can understand that point of view. My wife in fact was pleasantly surprised by RWD in the snow (I insisted she tries it several times, one evening actually in the middle of the snow storm we had, just to show her that her "massive fears" were misplaced) but she's more comfortable/confident with AWD (makes perfect sense), and with her FWD cars in the past.

Get an Allroad, lower it, tune it and have the best of all worlds.
My wife loves her unturned 2015. Its a car, great suspension (A5), great fuel MPG (important for her) and it has the utility of a small SUV.

Never heard of a 6GC? I only know of the M6/regular 6 series. Her car will remain stock but it will likely be me wanting to mess with her car...especially WHEELS! I like BMW OEM wheels but slap on some nice after market wheels and it makes the car unique

Not sure why it took me so long to remember this, but do have her at least test drive A6.

Spacious - check.
Luxurious - check.
AWD - likely/check.

Close in price to F10, very close in fit and finish and handling.
I liked it a lot - and so did the wife.

You know I can easily throw on some snow tires on my OEM wheels but I've seen plenty of cars and trucks pulled from ditches from going off the road during winter seasons so I can't dream of doing that to my baby or take a chance So that's why I keep her in storage. I use my truck during winters here

Funny you mentioned this as we were traveling to Kentucky last Memorial weekend and I pointed out the A6 on the road next to us and she was like "hmmmmm... ehhhh...it's not a BMW!"

Pointed out a 7 series on the road and she looked at me "do I look like Kanye?"

Have her look past "not BMW" at least long enough to test drive it, and you know what, if you haven't tried it, check it out yourself. I think it's a fantastic car. A bit plain looking comparing to F10, but other than that, it's very close in "feel" and "performance". And has great AWD system too.

She said exactly what you said "PLAIN" I'm sure it's a fantastic car but she's also into looks. Her Accord was a show car so she knows she wants something with style. It doesn't help that I'm always talking about BMW'S and pointing out everyone I see on the road and she's always points them out too which is kinda funny so I think BMW is just rubbing off on her. She loves our 5er but she just wants her own

I'm not a fan of his and hers of the same thing. Has she test driven an X5? It drives more like a sedan than an SUV.

This is the exact reason we are back in a 5. My wife had two 3's, a 5 and a 4 convertible. When we decided to buy one, she wanted to back to the 5 series.
