Thule Roof Bars

I've just sold my Focus ST to get a larger family car; the F11. I have just seen that the Thule bars for the Focus (969 wing bars 127cm) are wider than the set for the BMW (961 118cm)

Before I go ahead and buy the set for the BMW...

I realise that I need new feet and fitting kit, but can I not simply use the wider bars from the Focus and adjust accordingly?

Reason I ask is that I have 4 x Thile 591 bike carriers to fit on the car... Can't get away with just 3.

Any info appreciated

Mike

I used an older set of whispa bars on my F10, which iirc were 125cm "through" bars and they fit fine.
i also get 4x thule 591 carriers on there :-)

Not an answer, but I bought the BMW roof bars from the dealer with the plan to get a luggage carrier on them. I fitted them and could not get any carrier that would fit. Tried Cabelas, walmart, and at least 3 different craigslist fittings. Will be buying the bmw roofbox next time I need it... ended up driving two cars 8 hours away.

Have no experience with Thule on the F10 as I have the OEM base bars. I like the OEM as it acres right in the roof rails. You can always just buy the Thule fat mouth and you can practically attach anything Thule.

I have the Thule aero bars on my 2013 F10. Yours are 10cm wider - they should fit on the car, and up to you to decide whether the bars sticking out that extra 5cm per side is a concern to you or not.

Tomorrow I can post a pic of where my 47" bars are compared to the roof width.

Thanks for that - I will go buy the feet and fitting kit and give it a try. It won't be in all the time so the additional width is probably fine
