I had a shop intall my diffuser and it cost me $200. Im not happy with the fitting and they said its a vendor molding problem. I cant afford another $200 to uninstall it.. So im looking for any help on how to remove the reAr bumper..
Any help will be much appreciated. |

Easy. Take off plastic cover piece inside trunk that slips under the seal, take off trim partial inside trunk partial over rear lights. Remove 3 8mm nuts holding outer lights. You should be able to see the actual pins/bolts holding the bumper, in several places directly under, by wheel well, under lights etc. Straight forward
Tools: 8mm (hex) socket, pry for pins |

I've already removed the bumper.. Thinking about doing a diy with pics for everyone here...that would cover everthing from the tail lights removal to rear bumper reflectors..

Finally got the Vorsteiner style diffuser installed. Fitment is about 95%.
Notice that on the left side, fitment is perfect. However, on the right side, it appears that there is a small gap. Noticeable, but for a price difference of $700, I'm not complaining. Fitment is stable and not loose. You cannot just remove it. It's secure. Bumper needed to come off for proper installation. I tried to install myself but you really cannot get the metal fasteners to properly clip on unless you get the bumper removed. very manageable if you have help but if you are by yourself, then just get a shop to do it. I got a good deal on a shop in SD. Cost me $130 total after everything, including a car wash. To those SD people interested, PM me and I'll give you the contact info. Thanks to George (Shihwei) as well for the hook up! Excuse my droid, lens has some spot so you can see the spot on the images. I took a close up of the remus muffler as well. Nice Bobby!
I just installed mine today too. Did it myself. And i have the same gaps as you but on both sides. Oh well. Id say its like 85% fitment. Now i just gotta get my exhaust done. Thanks for this DIY M535, it helped a lot!

You pm'ed me bro but you never replied to my pm.. I could have shown you away to close that gap near the tow huk.. If you get a chance to remove it again, you just need to gently force into those three little tabs attached to the bumper.. Gently with force lift and push up the bottom part of the diffuser.. You should hear it click in place and will sit there properly.. Note: it will seat there but might come off so you need to secure somehow.. GL. |

I could push it in, but it doesnt click in. Maybe from when i was bending the tabs when i tried to install it with the bumper on? idk. Its on there good. I bent all the metal tabs down after i put it on, so i dont think it could fly off. I also drilled a couple holes on the bottom where the oem clips held the diffuser so its attached there also.

Hi guys,
It seems like a lot of people have the same issue and our curstomers' problem is our problem. So I will try my best to see if we can resolve this together. Since I am unable to see the exact problem, except through pictures and talk to a few of you guys over the phone, it sounds like the imperfection happens right around where the tow hook cover is on the right side and and the respective position on the left. I believe member M535 had the diffuser on the bumper when it was off the car and it looked perfect; however, when the bumper was installed back on the car, the metal tab was pushing against something inside, causing this gap that most people are seeing. The following is a blow-up diagram of the F10 M-Sport rear bumper and it looks like the metal tabs are pushing against part 7 Bottom Center Guide. If possible, please have this part removed as the purpose of this part is to push against the bumper from the inside to make it firm; however this causes the bumper to lose some of its flexibility. After doing so, it should create some room for the metal tabs and allow the bumper cover to move a little bit in order to make the fitment better. STOOF, since your diffuser seems to have issues on both sides and you still need work done on your exhaust, would you mind helping all of us out by trying this? The diffuser was sold without the metal inserts in Asia; it was only added with the intention of easier and more secure installation for our U.S. customers; however, it seems to be causing more problems. As all of you can see that the diffuser fits perfectly to the bumper when it is not on the car, I really think the problem can be solved with different installation techniques. I am glad that we are having a good discussion on this forum; and hopefully with proper adjustments, all of these can look perfect!! Please feel free to PM me to discuss. Thank you all. |

now that I know it can be done to make it fit perfectly, it is bothering me. Did you have to take the whole bumper off again? I am thinking of taking it back to the shop...
