Marker Light Retrofit

My 2016 has adaptive LEDs with integral side markers. It also has the non-functional "plate" on the fender where the old marker lights used to be. I would like to install functioning marker lights in the original location.

I've been told it can't be done, there are no connectors anymore. But how hard would it be to splice connectors into the wiring harness in parallel with the circuit used by the new side markers? I don't know how diabolical BMW got with their wiring but from an electrical standpoint it's simple.

Has anyone done it? Is there a source available for the color codes and connections for the wiring harness?

Facelift has hole in chrome piece which goes over turn signal bulb, i think T10 bulb would fit in.... don't bother with that side marker on fender.
