Upgrading a CIC to NBT

So I've seen lots of videos (one posted below) of older systems being upgraded to NBT but I've only seen non-Nav units being upgraded so that includes adding GPS antennas and other components. If I have a full navigation CIC system with iPod connectivity, etc., can I install the NBT headunit, screen, and iDrive and use the existing wiring? Or maybe just with some coding? Or do I have to buy the full kit that is sold by places like Bimmerretrofit?

They will help you with everything.. if upgrading look into the NBT evo, that's the current system.

I understand that. I was asking if there was another option than going through Bimmerretrofit since my car has a lot of the components already, as opposed to a less optioned car. Head units, screens and iDrive controllers are sub $1,000 on eBay which would make more sense to me than $3,000.
