Valet "key" for the F10

Can someone please enlighten me if the F10 has a Valet function that one can lock the boot securely prior to allowing the hotel valet to park your car?

In my previous ride (E60 - preLCI), the plastic key is used as a valet key where one can lock some valuables in the boot safely with the main key and hand over the car to a hotel valet using the plastic key which cannot be used to open the boot.

I was told the F01 and F02 has such a function where one can lock the boot from the centre console and just hand over the key fob minus the actual key - this way, the valet cannot have access to the boot.

Just lock the trunk via the glove compartment & then lock the glove with the key in the fob. Then just leave the fob.

Yes, that is the way it works for the F10. There should be a switch in your center console. Flip the switch, then close and lock this assembly with the metal key from your fob, and keep this with you.
(obviously.)

Hi ghueser, do you have this switch in your centre console?

Bmrmeup, I don't see a switch within the glove compartment that I could use the key within the fob to lock either - am I missing something?

"Infrared Remote Control?" I believe it's a radio transmitter, right?

But... infra-red beams and radio waves are two different things.

Perhaps you are confusing the term transponder. The fobs transmit a signal and respond to signals being sent to it.

I don't think Asian F10s (which are closer to Euro specs) have the switch as well.....

It's not in mine either. Am wondering if it can be retro-fitted? Will enquire with the dealer on my next visit.
