F10 550i xdrive front shock removal? For spring install

I was wondering if anyone had done their own spring install on the 550xi. Looking for any tips on removing the shock/spring before I have to dismantle the whole lower control arm.
Im not new to r&r with suspension as I have done over dozens of vehicle which included front axle shafts. Most if not all shocks have a removable lower fork if there is a drive shaft involve. The f10 550 xdrive fork is welded to the shock. With the upper control arm removed , hub assembly push down to the max, it still wasn't able to slip out.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Did you remove the axle bolts? you have to take them out then you can put pressure on the hub assembly and slide out the strut

Axle bolts? In order to remove the axle, the lower control arm needs to come out. By the time the lca is out there would be enough room for the struts to slide out.
Point is, i was trying to remove the strut with the least amount of removal.
In the end i didn't have to remove any other parts besides the upper control arm and whats connected to the strut itself. A lot of elbow grease and a giant prybar.
