I have a question of automatic dimming of the interior light of the F10. I remember from my E60 that when closing the doors without locking them when ingition was off the interior light stayed on for a while (15-20 seconds?) before dimming. With engine running it dimmed at once the doors were closed. This makes sense: when engine is running you probably are going to drive at once.

However, the interior lights in my F10 dimmes at once always when closing the doors - also without the engine running before locking the doors. This is annoying. With ingnition off you probably close the doors for leaving the car. When it is dark outside you then may want to check through the windows that you didn’t forget anything inside.

The manual doesn’t mention this. Is it some way to change this to how it was in the E60 or does it have to be this stupid?

Neither. According to the (U.S. version 2013) Owner's Manual, if you press the "Lock" button on the key fob (the BMW Logo button) when the car is already locked, the interior and courtesy lights turn on.

I'm pretty sure the interior light in my f10 stays on for a few seconds after I close the door and doesn't lock it.
