HeadLight condensation issue?
Hey folks,
I realized that my F10's headlights are getting internal sweaty, is it normal? It´s raining a lot those days and and I thought water is infiltrating it. Anyone have the same issue? Thanks. |

any updates on the checking with the dealer? I notice my right headlight has condensation the other day but it was gone the day after. I wonder if it is normal

I had condensation in one of the driving lamps and the dealer replaced it.

I have little condensation too around the bottom part of the lighting unit but they disappear after about 1/2-3/4 hr after the car is shut off.
Dealer inspected it and suggested it's normal. Dealer futher explained that there are couple of vent holes behind the lighting unit such that heat built up can be properly vented. Therefore, it is not unusual to have low level of moisture circulating inside the light housing unit. However, dealer explained the seal is broken if the entire headlights have heavy/big water droplets formed and do not go away for days, then the lighting unit will need to be replaced. |

Fogging or water droplets? I think fogging is normal. Mine fogged up the day I got the car. It was sunny and about maybe 2 degrees C outside. It went away a few hours after I shut the car off and has not happened since. If there are water droplets, that might be a reason to get it checked. You can see my headlight in the photo is a bit fogged around the edges. I've had a few other cars that did the same. Every once in a while, a little condensation in the headlights, but it always went away.

Avimax,
That's exactly what I have as well. On my first day of delivery (Dec 2010), mine was 1/2 convered with condensation (on both lights) and I broght the car back the same day and the SA, Service Mgr & shop foreman stood there not understanding what is happening. Then the SA called BMW Canada the following week to ask their assistance and was told the condensation is normal and the unit is not defective. BMW Canada says the condensation will gradually disappeared altogether when the car is about a few months old. |

I just had mine changed by BMW under warranty (expires in two weeks) as there was a small condensation issue. Whilst the condensation came and went, and the technician said he did not see anything wrong with them, there was an ever so slight moss like substance making an appearance so they went ahead and changed them anyway. I cannot fault them, they were very helpful.

Water in Headlight
Hi, I washed my car on Sunday and as I was drying it I noticed condensation build up in the right headlight. I watched it for a day or so and read a post here and dryed it out with a hairdryer. It worked well and when I went to work the next morning there was water built up again. I also get the daytime/parking lamp and adaptive lamp not working errors. Do I need to replace the headlight or is there a way to repair it?

Here's a direct link to (the complete) information from the online BMW TIS site about headlight fogging: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...lights/YFcTUkX
