N/S Mirror tilt when reversing

My previous BMW, a 2009 M3 used to have this feature where the N/S mirror would tilt down to allow you to see the rear wheel while reversing. However, my 2013 520d doesn't appear to have this feature and seems like a backwards step for a fresher car. Am I missing something or can it be coded in?

Thanks in advance,
Barry

Move your mirror slider to the right, bingo.

Thanks for your message mate.

I noticed that was sometimes a problem on the M3 I had so tried it on the new car but it doesn't appear to make any difference where the wee slider switch is, drivers or passengers mirror. :-(

It should be standard feature without the need for coding.

Ok, I must get BMW to look at this under warranty since it's not even 2 years old. What could be at fault though? A little module?

Probably the most asked question on BMW forums worldwide....

The mirror tilt only works if the mirror has a "memory" to retain its original position, ergo this only works IF you have memory seats and / or electrically-folding mirrors. If you don't, it doesn't.

Perfect, that you for the clarification. That explains it, my car doesn't have memory seats so I guess I have to live without it.

Xenon referred to auto folding mirrors and not electric mirrors.
He is correct.

However I have retrofitted folding mirrors on my car which has standard seats.

So I need either folding mirrors or electric memory seats?

Must search to see how easy it is to fit electric folding mirrors.

Thanks again,
Barry

Not easy and not cheap, so not worth the $$$ in my opinion!

On a plus note, that's one sexy M3

I'll live without the dipping mirror so it seems.

Thanks for the comment about the CSL, she is a bit of a looker for sure.
