LCI Configuration

The BMW 5 series LCI configurator should be up tonight hopefully or latest by friday.

Today I was at my dealership and was told the LCI configuration on the website should be up this week.

The UK site has lost its configuration for the old 5 series. One can now only see the ActiveHybrid inn the website now.

… so it seems that the website is being updated. Hopefully soon !

If you go to your own dealer website, it will have been updated with the 2014 model... At least in the UK.

Getting impatient, I rang my BMW dealer today who told me "Another 3-4 weeks" before they'll have information available/configurator live. I am sure that isn't right, but nonetheless, with my fleet manager hassling me to get the process going I have today (tried) my best shot at configuring a 520d SE using the German brochure to at least get it going.

I was relieved that the Auto is now under 120g/km emmissions as my Company has imposed a 120 limit or else I lose half of my allowance. But I am disappointed that it's only the 520d SE with 17" wheels that works. I was looking at The Luxury or M-sport because the allowance for under 120 is now more generous (£4800 per year lease cost) than it was when I got my current car in October 2010. One of my colleagues has just ordered a hybrid E300 Mercedes Estate with an AMG pack, near on £40k which is only going to cost him £286 per month. (I was paying £280 per month for my first 520d Touring in 2006, this is the cost of the lease over the employers contribution divided by 12).

With £35k 320d M-sports coming in at around £220 per month, I was hopeful for a 5 Luxury or M-Sport for around £250.

I have asked them to try to get a price for a 520d SE Auto with a few extra's on it such as Sports Auto, M-sport steering wheel, ambient lighting, LED fog's etc...

I doubt he'll get far with any of the lease companies, but he insisted I get a request in so I have.

Your dealer should have the configurator on their ISV/SA3 systems. It is not very user friendly, but it does have all options and prices. It also ensures that options are selected properly (i.e automatically detects conflicting/ extraneous options if selected).

I placed my order for a 535D Luxury way back on 31 May - so the system is definitely available with your dealer. If not - change your dealer !

Thanks,
I will try popping in, but as usual as soon as you mention it is a lease car (where I have no control over the purchase) they go very cold. I have another dealer not too far away, I will go into them maybe and act like I am going to buy one, just to get the info... I don't like doing that, but they are their own worst enemy when it comes ot Company car drivers.

I managed to get my 520d SE LCI ordered last week on a lease. I can put you in touch with my leasing broker if you like?

I know which dealer is supplying the car and they are in London. My price is vastly different to the figures you have above, but that's due to massive mileage and full maintainance included.

Let me know!

immx,
Thanks, the dealer and lease company may be useful to me. Because I work for the Fire Service and it is a public body they have to use Lease companies that have been through a full procurement process as this money is from the public purse (Which is why I also have to pay anything above the benchmark price).

But, knowing the dealer and the Lease Co can't do any harm as at least I can point my fleet manager in that direction in case it is one of the six we use.

As for cost, our are 3 year leases, full maintenence, but obviously mileage plays a significant factor. I have colleagues who pay a lot more because they do more than double the 30,000 miles I do every year if they live way out of London. None of us will ever see mileage that most company car drivers do, because driving (either to incidents or to and from meetings) is less than a quarter of my overall workload.

Hmmm,
I'm getting a little worried I've been sold a pup with the LCI 5 series. The only one available to me is the 520d SE saloon, small wheels and possibly cloth seats as standard as this is now showing in the German brochure?

In the ideal world, I would've gone back to a Touring and an M-Sport at that, but that takes me well over the 119g/km CO limit.

So I take my basic 520d SE and add Sports auto gearbox Leather, sports steering wheel, ambient lighting, folding mirrors, sports seats, Black headlining, fog lamps...etc...etc... and all of a sudden I am paying a hell of a lot of money out on my own pocket (I pay for the optional extra's on my Companies lease scheme).

Or, do I look at the Merdeces E300 hydrid AMG Estate, which has everything I want in the basic package.... not a single optional extra required. OK, over £40k, which probably means nearer £300 per month on my lease scheme, but I may be near that for a 520d with extras????

UK - yes, Germany and possibly others - no.

Exception being the M Sport where you have the choice with no difference in price no matter which way you go.

My rule is buy from the manufacturer that makes the product you want. That's what speaks. Loyalty only helps the manufacturer as the marketing guys will have many a good yuk over "they'll buy it anyway" while tweaking as much as they dare to extract money from your pockets to reside in theirs. YMMV

This is true.... I've 'old man'd off more than one or two friends with Merc's before now.

I won't make any decisions until all of the quotes are in.

I have taken an E on a test drive, one word- awful. It just doesn't have the same something about it. I can't put my finger on what it is but there is something. Also refinement, ride comfort, quietness etc. is much better on an E60. You can only imagine how much better it is compared to an F10. Plus command is nowhere near as good as idrive. The only upside, the voice command system on merc is very very good.
